Apparently there have been 2.8m registrations since the election was called, which is good to hear.

That's interesting. I suspect it adds a larger margin of error than usual to the pre-election polls as I suspect the people the polling organisations ask would be what they perceive to be likely voters, and if many of the new registrants are from a different demographic that could skew the result significantly.

Hoping for a hung parliament but still think the Tories will get a majority. The best hope for the opposition is for Johnson to do some more press conferences and for the media to show his responses to questions about personal integrity. Having said that, what would give the opposition an even better chance would be if Corbyn resigned as leader and took McDonnell with him.

Can't we just go back to days of Cameron's Conservatives and Blair's Labour fighting it out?

Aah yes, that halcyon 20 year period in which a grand total of about 14,000 council houses were built (and a number much greater than that sold off under Cameron) despite the population growing by about 9 million people, costing the country hundreds of billions in housing benefit. Or when they both conspired to take us into the Iraq war. Those really were the days.

Ah yes Halcyon days indeed. Compared to the last time we had a hard left Labour government.

Genuine question, and this goes for previous elections I guess too, but I wonder why there were so many people not on the register in the first place. Thought it was an offence not to include all household members on the annual enquiry form?

It's not really hard left to expect a government to have enough houses for its population, and to provide those who can't afford market rent (normally disabled or on on low-incomes) with state-housing.

Or to have rubbish collected. Or to expect people to go to work occasionally rather than striking every 5 minutes.

I agree.

If you can't do any of them basic things or can't provide houses for the needs of the population, you shouldn't be anywhere near government and I'm surprised anyone can pine for those kinds of governments to be brought back as a panacea for all the problems we have today. Especially when the current election is being fought over the problems that were caused by these same people, mainly Blair and Cameron.

He also said don't vote Labour, rather unfortunately from your standpoint.

He is very clear he wants a Conservative government, too.
He isn't, if he doesn't want a tory majority he must know without one they won't form a government as they will have no other party to support them.

You can also register where ever you 'live'. I have a holiday home in wales and it just occurred to me my vote might be more useful there. Both are current labour the welsh one is a target of Plaid and there is ~5k between Lab,Plaid,Tory in that order. Tempting to cast my vote there to keep the tories out, lab are safer in my 'normal' constituency.

Lord hesseltine just described Boris as follows

he is one of those politicians who sees which way the crowd is running and jumps in front of it and says follow me.

Very good that , always liked him
Heseltine has been as bitter as gall ever since he knifed Thatcher, and failed in his lifelong quest to get the gig.
He's rubbished every PM ever since, and he's now asking folk to vote for the likes of Grieve and Soubry.
Good luck with that, Tarzan.
