Well people do accept it, even though it poses a greater risk to health than Ch washed chicken does.

That's my point. People are prepared to accept one, not knowing the condition it's kept in, but won't accept another where it's condition previously being washed is unknown, but after being washed is certain to be hygenic.

FWIW, the salmonella rates are higher in the US, but the campylobacter rates are lower. Presumably Labour are responsible for the lower rates.

Wouldn't surprise me. I doubt there's a single news or information outlet that doesn't employ (or is solely run or edited by) someone with a level of bias one way or the other. In this instance it does pooh-pooh the idea that comparing the available statistics for the argument to support one side or the other is not likely to produce a valid result due to the differences in collating the data.
