How does that work when the party that wins will most likely get less than 40% of the vote?If they vote for them then they get exactly what they voted for.

They weren’t given any worthwhile choice.I certainly hope not! I was just saying that in terms of the electorate not being blameless.

Social Democracy, not Democratic Socialist.
Big difference.
The idea proposed by Clegg was naff. It was intended to improve the Lib Dems chances and that was all and it was too drastic a shift in one go. Personally why not have a system such as e.g. 600 constituency seats elected as now + 50 regional seats elected based on PR. That gives a system which can be tweaked over time to get the right balance and allows voters to vote for the minority parties they want to with a chance of some representation. That’s the end of that then, I guess.

We are, mate.Just to check we’re talking about the same thing, you mean the alternative vote referendum? If so (as that’s what I was referring to) I agree to an extent, I’d prefer proportional representation.
And me, a solo member of the mile high club.Solosexual and proud.
Never trust a Tory.
Are they?Russians behind last weeks Corbyn/NHS leaks?
Going to be good watching a few of the usual on here explain that one away lol
Yes, for once you're correct, the document waving was bullshit, and the clip assessment by whoever tweeted it must meanHmm, the document was bullshit, eh?!!
The document defending right wingers on here will NEVER believe it!
Just re-reading what happened and the single transferable vote was equally unpalatable, I reckon.Their bill got defeated on their original ask though, which is why we ended up on that.
People don't want PR, well the Libs do, but they always have, because they never get anywhere.Just re-reading what happened and the single transferable vote was equally unpalatable, I reckon.

Naughty Russkies, they probably were the ones that got 16.2 million to vote remain;)
The Alternative Vote option offered was a rather feeble version of proportional representation, not the more robust version of Single Transferable Vote that exists in for example the Rep. of Ireland. We as an electorate did have a vote on that though, to be fair
