Democrat US Presidential Nominations

Bloomberg - another rich man looking like he's about to enter the race. Boden is tainted. He will be the one the DNC decides to lose to Trump.

Kamala Harris is out, unsurprisingly.
Sadly, in America, “democracy” is all about the Benjamins!!!

She might be a viable Cabinet member, and as a woman of color, may well be a leading VP candidate. However, even her “blackness” and what she did to get where she got have seeped into her narrative, so who knows?!

So, between the 2 Septuagenarian Alpha Males, the gay guy, the preacher, the two Billionaires, the Hawaiian Russian plant and the Native American School Tracher...who is going to beat the Orange Criminal?

Why do I feel like I’m watching the slow disintegration of an Ant & Dec series that’s lost it’s way?!

By all accounts her campaign was disorganized, message-less, short on funds and packed with infighting.

The answer is Biden. The most experienced and the most innocuous.

Knew she'd be in the mix.

Knew she'd out early enough after the reveal of her past record which I already knew about.

She was transparently bad, propped up by the Establishment Dems.

The ED still have many [poor] cards to play in Booker, Klobuchar and Buttigieg.

Bloomberg and Patrick won't be long in there either although I am surprised Steyer has gotten a bump lately!

What's that about? His climate change rhetoric?

Can't see it!

Sanders has begun to replace Warren even, if not as major rival to Biden, then the favourite second pick of most Dem voters!

In my opinion, M4A is certainly helping in that regard!

And when it comes to debate between the two, I can't think of a single time Biden has got off looking better than Bernie!

I think Biden wins, Sanders probably wins, Mayor Pete maybe wins, and Warren probably loses.

What have the Democrats done in the past four years? Nothing for the country. All they've done is go after Trump with baseless accusations. If this is all they've been able to do over the last fours, none of them should even think about a nomination. They also let Berrnie run on the ticket four years ago. Bernie Sanders is a card carrying Communist. If the Democratic Party allows Communists into their Party, watch out folks because the U.S.A. will go under for certain if the Communists get to the top.

Please, not you as well!!

Sanders is a 'Democratic Socialist'! That means he doesn't begrudge money being made, he just wants those with excessive wealth to pay a fairer share into society to help others.

You know, like how you collectively pay for the firefighters, the army, the navy, the police, your highways? Do you complain about those?

He wants that extended to hospitals and college education as everyone should have the right to access those things.

Explain how that is "communism"??!

A lot of this thread is about opinions. For a change, I'm going to state a fact.

Fact: at least one of the grand total of three posts you've offered up on bluemoon is fucking terrible.

Sanders - clean politician, no scandals.

Biden - certain scandals attached to him.

Buttigieg - current scandals attached to him.

Warren - some 'scandals' attached.

It's going to depend on whether journalists do their jobs.

Oh brother, here we go again. Cool, if Sanders doesn't win the nomination, you can feel free to vote for Trump or sit out the election. If you do either, you better never bitch about Trump again, because you'll be part of the problem.

If "clean" were all that mattered, Bullock wouldn't be folding up his campaign.

Obviously the man must be translatable to the voter.

Bullock was not accepted as someone who could do the job.

Just a fact. The US is currently in battle for its soul: The Donor Class vs Progressives.

Sorry your guy lost, but moderates are up against it.

I don't see it that way; I see it as the opposite of that.

I see the democratization of the bully pulpit via technology offering a widespread platform to more radical ideas drowning out moderates and moderation. These ideas haven't earned their keep in the real world because they're impractical. In idea form only, they appear attractive because they are simple and paradigm-breaking and large-problem solving, and therefore they are appealing to those who don't have to implement nor manage them. Political edge-livers -- hard right or hard-left -- have mistaken a platform/voice they've never had before (because the marketplace of ideas used to have more of the shape of a traditional bell curve) with a turning of the tide among the electorate. They believe there is "finally" problem recognition among the average person and believe that average person is "finally" ready to accept -- and vote for -- their radical fringe solutions. And the election of Trump has only emboldened this way of thinking, despite the inconvenient fact that 3 million more people voted for Clinton than for him.

Put it this way -- Progressives can win when there is a crisis to be solved, like a depression, or an endless, absurd war. The tangibility of no job for many or young men coming home in coffins by the hundreds impacts the way people think and their desire for immediate change. The US has nothing like that now.

No, I get that, but I think there's a rich/ poor war right now.

Put, pretty simply, people haven't progressed under the right wing/ neoliberalism ideology of the last 20 odd years.

The words of a salesman tapped into this. Happened in front of your eyes.

Now, as that falsehood falls apart the other end of the scale has tipped up; people are desperate for healthcare etc.

If the US go moderate now, denying this, they will suffer. The 'balance' needs redressing and after that it will course correct.

Feels like the tip of civil war in the US, right now, imo.

Surely, that’s a joke?

Am I being Clarkied?!

Sanders = old commy with a dodgy ticker

Biden = creepy joe

Buttigieg = 'I wouldn't say it but a lot of people are saying he is gay, i just said it, but i shouldn't say it, he's gay, i said it again.'

Warren = pocahontas

These 4 are a gift to Trump. 3 old establishment politicians and Buttigieg.

(PS - I have no issue with Buttigieg - i'd love him to win but now is not the time).

3 out of 4 would smash Trump in a debate. He hasn't got the mental capacity to deal with them (Biden aside).

I don't think you know what an Establishment Dem is if you're including Sanders.

Not sure why you're slurring Warren as others have moved on, but you're one of the few still using talking points that are 2 years old and something #45 would use also.
