Amazon prime

What money would it take for amazon or google to end sky/BT involvement?
Would they be prepared to pay it & would they consider it value for money?

I suspect BT would be vulnerable, they practically give away access through internet or mobile contracts, and I don't think they have the resources to compete.

They were trying to get a cheaper deal on the Champions League recently but ITV and Sky stopped that by competing. Their current deal PL deal is 400m/year which should be within Amazon's reach.

The auction was up last year and Sky paid 3.6Bn to show games until 21/22 season. This was less than the previous deal so I imagine they can go a fair bit higher if need to be to keep the likes of Amazon off the main packages. It may that Amazon could challenge the BT package at the next auction but I think Sky are there to stay for the premium slots.

Looks like BT could blow Sky out of the water, if they do wished.

You can't really compare parent companies. BT's TV department is a very small division with ~5m subscribers compared to Sky's 25m, and a lot of those come from EE and BT Internet packages anyway. They'll have to justify their costs.

Prime has over 100 million subscribers and Amazon have shown they'll sink insane money into it, like guaranteeing 1 billion for the lord of the rings TV show.

Amazon is spending $6 billion a year on original video content and don't actually need to turn a profit. If they wanted they could outbid anyone for the rights.
