Mendy and Sterling poor,the rest very good

I don't think Mendy has been that bad. They tried to go after him massively early on, with Rashford and James pressing him with Wan Bissaka charging up behind him, but he weathered that with a few dodgy but successful passes, and then we just switched to Walker to take advantage of the space and after that they had to stop pressing Mendy to cover their LB.

I think he just looks a bit hesitant, like he wants to go on a big run forwards but is second guessing it and passing inside instead. Maybe in the second half he'll go for it. Remember his biggest strength is crossing and he's literally got no one to cross to. He's defended James well when they did counter early on.


Sterling has also been great apart from his finishing. He put Bernardo through on goal when he was wrongly flagged on side, he's been part of the goals, he's rotating well in the front 3.

I do like this shape of not playing a striker and giving the rags defence no one to mark then run at them from midfield.

Mendy is being pressured more than any other player. I'd say he has grown into the role and gotten better. Sterling is having a bad day. I expect him to score 2 before getting subbed.

Don’t think Mendy has been that bad but they are not on each other’s wavelengths compared to the other flank.
Don’t think Raz is on anyone’s wavelength at the moment which doesn’t help Mendy.

Excellent first half but what on earth is up with Sterling these days. Can't seem to control or cross it and started miss-kicking in front of goal. His form has really dropped off. Maybe just needs a rest.

More of the same 2nd half please but with a bit better finishing!!
