I have just seen this game is rearranged for a CL night. I thought there was a rule that they were sacred in all of football and playing non CL football on a CL night was a sin?

There used to be a rule/mutual agreement that the top European divisions wouldn't schedule or televise a match during CL nights, however this apparently expired in 2017.

No doubt it my UEFA will take another look at this soon :)

Not sure about that, I think you’ll find there is more prize money for winning a single Champions League match (let alone progressing to next stage) than is the difference in prize from 2nd to 3rd

the amounts of prize money for both comps are widely available on web

If we go off last season for winning a single UCL match in any round you got £2.267 million it’s just over £300,000 more than what you get for each league position you finish higher in the league (£1.9 million)

last years 2nd place premier league side (Liverpool) earned £36.1 million.

however with the way he league is atm more failure in making sure we finish in the top two and we can be earning less.

But yeah let’s go win a one off UCL game to cover the differences .

Teams also get a bonus payment of £7.5m if they make it through this next round.

So on and so on...

My daughter has just said we had a game postponed 6 years ago today.
Who was it against?
I don't remember it. I must be get old.

Not a bad outcome. Could have been worse.

I would be inclined to play a full strength team v West Ham and a squad/rotation team against Leicester. The West Ham match should be the starting line-up and formation he intends playing v Madrid.

We need our players fully prepared (and appropriately rested) for the RM match.

Playing them all against Leicester then travelling to Madrid and playing a few days later is not ideal.
2 things spring to mind
After a couple of weeks off we might need 2 games to ge sharp?
Leicester will be a much more competitive game and better prep for the madrid game?

These poor footballers having their winter break cut by three days, it will still have been two and a half weeks since they last played a game ffs.
