Did you know Alan Price gets all the publishing for this song and refuses to share it with the other members?
Just cos the label says arranged by Alan Price. It's a traditional song with no songwriter.
Apparently Price didn't even contribute to the arrangement.

Is there anyone with music biz knowledge who can explain this?

Surely the others make something? There's record sales and radio play. And commercials.

He must make a very tidy annual sum out of this song.
Don't get why they've not sued him.
He claims he was violently threatened that he had to be listed as sole arranger.

As Price wrote the Jarrow Song that has very radical lyrics I'm shocked that he is anything but socialist in his personal business.

Ive got to be honest I didn’t know it was a traditional song - always thought they wrote it.

I’ve no idea but having heard their main 3/4 songs I always thought they were Americans, obviously knowing nothing about them.

Surprised to hear they were Geordies haha.

Without knowing all the ins & outs I'm a tad disappointed, I'd always thought he came across as a good guy with the Jarrow song backing that thought up, must listen to his dancing bear song to see if he's into animal cruelty.

To be honest, I forgot he was in the Animals. Eric Burden will always be the Animals to me and it is his voice that makes Hotrs so distinctive and unique.

Valentine blamed their manager for the mistake that led to them losing royalties, in their 83 reunion he said that at the time they were told the wording "traditionally arranged by" was too long to fit all the bands names on so they verbally agreed to sort out sharing the money later,

About 20 years as I worked on Boneheads house from oasis, it was right before he left the band
He told me ( at that time ) Noel gets £8 everytime a songs gets played on the radio and the others get £1

I don’t know if this changes over time as oasis aren’t as big now

Remember Spandau Ballet?
Three of the band took Kemp to court and lost.
He had the sole rights to the songs as writer and got by far the biggest chunk of money because of it.

On the other hand since their first record Coldplay have always had all the band credited as joint songwriters.

And as for the Stones Keef, Mick and Charlie keep such control that even to this day Ron Wood is an employee of theirs!

The HOTRS in the advert was a version sung by Joan Baez about 4 years earlier than The Animals.
I always thought it was an old blues song from the 1920s that had been covered by numerous blues artists over the years.
A lot of the early 60s songs by The Stones and others were just updated versions of old blues songs.

I thought that but then I thought that Under my Thumb was the same, was surprised it was written by Jagger & Richards
