The demonising of our fans writing some (admittedly hyperbolic on many occasions) support for their club on an internet forum is an easy target for the Guardian and their ilk to take a shot at.

I don't recall any such demonisation of Liverpool fans thinking it was reasonable to destroy property and actively endanger the players and staff of a rival club by bricking a bus as it drove into their stadium to fulfil a sporting fixture.

But given the general preciousness and over-sensitivity of Liverpool fans, it would have taken an act of supreme courage on the part of these same journalists to speak out on that one - something which we all know they lack. One thing's for sure - the level of vitriol and bile you would have seen on equivalent Liverpool forums would have eclipsed our comparatively modest offerings over the last few days had Jonathan Liew or Nick Harris had the courage to call them out for their behaviour.

Apparently it's ok to vandalise and destroy property and endanger people's safety - but to vent on the internet is a crime so grave it needs calling out in the national media!

For a bit of balance, they could have a look on some of our rival's forums for their responses to the recent news about our club. The level of hatred they would see on there, amid calls for us to be relegated to League Two and all our players to be banned from football for life for complicity, whilst our owners should be locked up for having the temerity to defend their interests and not just accept this excessive punishment cap in hand, would contextualise the picture and highlight that all you're seeing on Bluemoon is very typical football tribalism.

But no.

Dual standards at its best. But then why are we surprised?

I do wonder how much of this is to do with us aligning with FIFA - they really do have a problem with the Eurocentric nature of the financial side of the game.

Over the last year we have got heavily involved and backed FIFA which long term is potentially to the detriment of waffa, and therefore toe G14 clubs.

We have more of a global look about us as CFG, and it’s a deliberate move to look at the bigger picture.

What if we are a pawn in a much bigger political game - but quite happy to take on that role to even the global playing field a little.

Sigh, it's not a characterisation of our fanbase. He's saying we're the ones calling others 'subhuman scum'. The low levels of reading comprehension on here are worrisome.
The irony is that alongside his article is an article by David Conn sourced from material provided to him by Prestwich Blue. Liew's commentary about the effect of this dispute on City's fanbase is unbalanced. Some may express anger, some are articulate, some are both often at different times.

The Guardian newspaper has put itself well beyond the pale now and I hope all City fans sever their relationship with it entirely. If that happens, then Liew will have done City's fanbase a favour.

Its the battle of the business plan and model of club ownership no doubt about it.

I severed my relationship with that publication a long time ago although I must admit for non footballing reasons.

Pep's press conference today should be interesting. let's see how he positions the team and himself "I'll be here if we get relegated to Div 2" or give the press nothing to feed on with the line, it's with CAS and I can't make any comment.

Don't think there's a press conference for this game.

Whatever Manchester City have done wrong, never forget that the entire playing field was shaped by the elite of European football for their own gain. This monstrous reimagining of fairness has been obvious since 2007. So it was never about Manchester City. Whatever you think of them, the game as it has now been framed by UEFA and a privileged elite, is bent.

Martin Samuel.

One journalist has the guts to call it as it is.
Little wonder Mr Conn identifies with their actions.

Wow you've changed your tune Marvin, pretty sure you were praising Conn last week and I got some stick when I called him a egotistical plagiarising twat (or words to that effect) in response to your praise.
He's gone down in my estimation because he's firmly set himself against City's ownership and has lost objectivity on this subject.

I accept his right to hold and express a different opinion about a topic, but I thought it was quite poor on his part that he took PB's information and failed to acknowledge its particular significance in respect of the allegations stemming from Football Leaks.

Up to CAS. I'd imagine that they'd suspend the ban. If they're taking their time to process the case they're taking it very seriously so a suspension would be necessary.

I think CAS will always suspend the punishment if the appellant requests them to do so unless their initial assessment deems it a frivolous appeal. A quick glance at the archives and the only cases where they haven't suspended the ban pending the appeal process I can find are some of the WADA drug offences where athletes are trying to get stuff suspended to participate in Olympics/world championships etc. Given the not without merit stance in the rebuttal of the previous appeal I'd be shocked if the ban isn't suspended if CAS are unable to finalise their findings by June.

Excellent stuff Mr van W. No doubt it will be duly ignored :(

Can anyone please confirm what should be our first question to CAS and that is dates. It appears that Uefa took it to the final day for the five year investigation date, so would that be from the date of settlement. There appears to be different views on this and should it have been from the date of the breach which could have put us outside of the date of the five years. In that case would we be treated similar to PSG with their missed deadline.
