Obviously City have no history, but what’s the earliest match that any of you were at? Not your dads or granddads, I mean genuine forum members. I’d like to think we have someone that was at the 55/56 cup finals. Do we have any earlier? Surely nobody can claim to have seen us win the league in 1937. Can they?

EDIT: Big Swifty steams into a seemingly unassailable lead on page 14 with the following:

"I was taken to see City's first home League match when the Football League resumed in 1946. City 3 Bury 1 at Maine Road. September 4th, if I remember correctly.

I was quite small at the time, I hasten to add. It was a damp gloomy day, early evening kick-off.

Beat that, youngsters. Still going strong. "

Mine was home to Sheffield United 2-1 win in 1971. No point in posting though if you can’t beat 1963

My first was certainly not the earliest on here but quite interesting. 2nd May 1960 to see Burnley win the league with a crowd of 65,981. Burnley won 2-1 and won the league by 1 point.

Tuesday March 27th 1968 7:30pm United v City.
It was my cousins birthday we were 6. My uncle who took us was a passionate red.
I detested the atmosphere of hate.
Best scored for United within a minute. Then City took charge. Bell equalised and Heslop and Lee won the game for City. Bell was magnificent throughout, a true thoroughbred.
My cousins birthday was ruined but I became a blue because of Colin Bell.
