I said this at the time.

We had the screens already.

We’ve got 2 laptops between 5 currently so if this gets worse things will become interesting.

The fact I work in the staffing industry makes it worse, as every **** will stop hiring.
Yeah but wait until half the workforce is dead and everyone has to hire new staff. Then you’ll be pulling in the dough.

It was reported how there was a rise in people dying of “a heavy flu” this Winter

ut surely tests would have been done on them and they would have recognised it was a different kind of virus to influenza?
The actual usual Flu still exists and will still make people ill. I think we should be vaccinating more people for that, because we can, to reduce the cases, and then if you do get anything then you know pretty much what it is. Plus it'd reduce the workload on the NHS.

imediate steps should be taken by the Government, either abandon the season or play behind closed doors, suspend flights to italy,to take kids there on a trip at this stage is complete madness and irresponsible by those organising trips, suspend visits to care/rest homes

What are the chances this was knocking about before new year?

Almost everyone I worked with took weeks off work at some point in the run up to Christmas, 3 were on steroids for their chest infections and I felt like I was on deaths door for over two weeks, not leaving bed for 4 days and didn’t breathe correctly for about 4 weeks.

Seems to be a lot of people reckoning this has been flying around for a little longer, but I’m not so sure.
Not sure but mid Jan I had a cough and phlem I just couldn't shift for like a week. Never had that before

Noticed earlier that Spain has confirmed a death from the virus on Feb 13th/14th. It did so after a post-mortem, but I suspect it’ll be a while before there are resources available to test your hypothesis.
Our response has been a bit slow overall but there are signs the government is beginning to take it more seriously.

Madrid closes centers for seniors in bid to stop coronavirus contagion

The measure will affect 213 different sites across the region, but does not include day centers attending dependant persons nor around 400 care homes

Though actions from certain ‘authorities’ have not gone down well.

That last bit reminded me of a video I saw the other day of a bloke in Iran licking the door to a holy shrine, because, well, inshallah.

There is a meeting of the prem and government on monday, the thing is i think the prem would put the dippers having their crowning moment in front of their adoring fans would come before this given the effort they have gone to to help them win it

Sports authorities and broadcasters have been summoned by the government for discussions on coronavirus contingency plans, Sky Sports News has reported.

The meetings will be held in London on Monday and will cover various possibilities in case the virus spreads further.

Ministers will go over a wide range of scenarios in the hope of reaching agreements about a plan to protect the public.

Some events could potentially be held behind closed doors, it is understood.

Italy has already forced all top-flight Serie A games to be played without fans for a month in an attempt to curb the outbreak.

The Six Nations rugby union match between Italy and England in Rome scheduled for 14 March has been postponed

And this weekend's clash between Ireland and Italy, due to be held in Dublin, is also off.

what bothers me and no one has been able to answer, normal flu kills although a fraction of what Covid-19 does,,if you get both at the same time could this create serious complecations and raise the chances of death as the iimmune system is overworked dealing with the seasonal flu

It’s 4.25% on positive cases too and a lot of them have only tested positive in the last couple of days so haven’t had time to die yet! I think the rate will be higher when all these new cases filter through. My guess is the Chinese date is simply not reliable and the Italian data is much more realistic.
I still can’t work out why the death rate isn’t considered to be 5-6%

I’m sure they’re not all reporting it wrong but the way I look at it, of all the cases that have been resolved, either a full recovery or death, 5-6% have died. So to me that is the true death rate. Dividing the total deaths into the total no. of cases seems wrong as I think roughly half of the total confirmed cases still have it, 2-3 thousand of them will die. So to me it’s almost 6%?

I’m aware I must be wrong for one reason or another but why is that not the death rate? It makes sense logically (at least to me).

So when do we think the first game behind closed doors will be, typical City on Wednesday maybe if not definitely next weekend

I saw that.

One of my (Spanish) cousins made a derogatory comment about it yesterday and I immediately put him in his place by reminding him he kisses Maria and (until recently when priests were ordered to keep them empty) took holy water from the font in his church, as well.

Religious people are weird!
