I reckon you'll be prosecuted and fined for truancy.
Parents/carers will receive a £60 fine if their child is in school less than their local council allows.

If they don’t pay that it will double after 21 days.

If they don’t pay it after 28 days they may be prosecuted!

I’d be surprised if anyone is prosecuted for taking their kids out of school from next week onwards. Can’t see it being in the public interest.

That said, nothing genuinely surprises me these days so probably best not to listen to me!
It’ll be a money spinner for councils. They will do it as much as they can get away with before the uproar hits the media.

no, for the child to be in school it has to be 100% certain for a parent that the child will be fine in the event of contamination even at 99.9% is not good enough, it has to be the parents decision and theirs only, the local council should have no imput on this whatsoever, family units could have grand parent living at home or other set ups, any parent will know when the time is right to pull them out,IMO go ahead and do it
I'm not saying that people should not take into account elderly relatives at home or even themselves. I was telling the OP that the child would be fine.

Just read in the paper that some Councils are considering stopping refuse collection!!!

I’d love to know on what basic science/health principles they have based that on whilst insisting public buildings, including schools, remain open?
Want to see how quickly society can breakdown?

Don’t study viral outbreaks or natural disasters or war or famine.

Just look at times when refuse stopped being collected for more than two weeks. Everything comes after.

can someone point me in the direction of what exactly a virus is and what its on this earth for, so a virus invades the human body which in turn kills the body so in effect destroys itself,i know a virus has no brain and is acting on the DNA thats programed it, i cant think of anything else on this earth that would kill itself in the process of doing its job except a Japanese fighter pilot

Theres loads of them .... normally called Parasites.

No apparently it comes back
There is *some* evidence it may return and there may be lasting issues after recovery but there is no conclusive study of that just yet.

I do think it is safer to assume, like the common cold (which can be caused by other strains of the coronavirus), the virus could become endemic if we do not respond swiftly and comprehensively to eradicate (it is unfortunately looking more and more like we have missed that boat, though).

Some councils can be over zealous when it comes to school non attendance. Zero tolerance gone mad

Presumably if it does keep coming back, eventually vaccines will mitigate its impact. It will be catered for as part of the annual flu jab, as swine flu is now?

I see the Italian sports minister has requested that Serie A be suspended, it can't be long. I wonder whether Seville v Atalanta will be played this week ? Especially as the only reason for travel from Milan is now in emergency only, a CL tie is hardly an emergency, and since its getting worse not better, that game if called off isn't going to be played for weeks, so that must put the whole competition in doubt.

Looking like we won’t necessarily have immunity. So far about 14% have re-caught it.
Where do you get that number ? Are you sure you are not talking about people with ongoing infection who have tested negative at some point during their infection?

Eventually, yes, that is the presumption.

I was just speaking to the fact that most guidance has the chances of it becoming globally endemic as very high if not eradicated in the first wave. And there is uncertainty as to whether it can be mitigated to the same extent as the influenza A and B.
