I'm a bit worried as my stomach and ribs have been aching for a few days, and coughed up a load of pleghm this morning. Felt a bit throaty for about 5 days.

Were your ribs also hurting? I'm quite slim but feel a little bit more laboured than normal in breathing.
Go here https://stadiumtours.liverpoolfc.com/tours and lick the door handles.

I will lick their whole fanbase and staff members if I get a positive diagnosis.

I just want to get tested now, dunno if I'm being paranoid. I feel well enough to go to work tomorrow, but that would be awful of me to do if I am in fact suffering, but with mild symptoms.
General advice is not to go to work with cold/flu symptoms and phone 111 I think - or post pics of the wife and torch your house for the insurance.

If you haven’t been exposed to someone back from Italy the chances are slim currently.

Tell people to restrict their CLOSE, PERSONAL interactions to the best of their ability, wash and sanitize their hands amap, if sick stay home.

People die of the flu every year, but we don’t shut down the world because a few people are going to die from the flu, do we?

The World Health Organization estimates that worldwide, annual influenza epidemics result in about 3-5 million cases of severe illness and about 250,000 to 500,000 deaths.

Did you know that?
This is the biggest crisis facing our planet since World War II and yet again you are trying to downplay it and compare it to normal.flu???. What is it about it being 10 to 50 times more deadly and much more contagious that you are not getting??? Italy are reporting 10% of all cases needing intensive care. How many flu cases need intensive care? 1 in a 1,000? How do you think we will we cope with millions of people infected and a significant number needing intensive care? Most hospitals only have a handful of intensive care beds.

Started with a really sore throat and bad cough and travelled down into my chest,i don't go out much or mix with people so i have no immunity to anything really,i would say don't worry if you are normally fit and healthy as it's unlikely to be more than a cold or the normal flu at worse, don't go to the drs unless you have trouble breathing, ride it out at home

Not that I'm aware of but I was at Hillsborough on Wednesday night, and have been all over the North of the country the past week or 2 with work.

I don't feel particularly poorly, I did contract swine flu in 2009 and that was second or third most poorly I've been in my life. Tempted to ring 111, I wouldn't want to pass it on to anyone just in case I only have mild symptoms.

Just stay off work if you can afford it and dose up on paracetamol. No one will want you to go in if even a remote risk.

Thanks Karen, it's more than likely just paranoia, I have woke up with sore stomach and ribs a few times this week which puts you on alert.

Did you get tested at the hospital or did somebody come to the house? And have they advised any medication?

Everyone knows that. However:

Generally good advice even if it is not COVID-19, as part of the issue with people merely comparing this to Influenza A and B, is that this crisis is in *addition* to cold and flu season which already puts pressure on the health systems around the world. Add to it a novel, as-yet-unmitigated pathogen with higher estimated transmissibility and higher estimated severe case rates and you have a very bad situation. Especially when you consider many people that only have a cold or seasonal flu will seek medical attention thinking they have the novel coronavirus.

Each of us needs to do everything we can within reason to avoid contracting any pathogen, avoid transmission if we do contract a cold, flu, or the novel coronavirus, and reduce strain on the healthcare system if at all possible (i.e. if you have mild symptoms), which includes self-quarantine and care.

Germany’s no. keeps going up the more and more I look at it.

The US seems to have exploded now with it everywhere.

Ours hasn’t increased since this morning.

I can unfortunately see this wiping out a very large number of people and bringing the healthcare system to its knees in most countries.

I’ve certainly changed my tune.

The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK is now 273, a rise of 67, the biggest in a 24-hour period.

The new total is up from a figure of 206 which the Department of Health and Social Care released yesterday.

The vast majority of cases are in England. London has at least 51 cases, the South East 41 and the South West 35. The region with the smallest number is the North East and Yorkshire with at least 18.

The Department of Health and Social Care says more than 23,500 people have been tested for the virus.

Calls to the NHS 111 service have increased by more than a third compared with the same period last year, with 120,000 extra calls in the first week of March, the department said.

The department's website said: "As of 9am on 8 March 2020, 23,513 people have been tested in the UK, of which 23,240 were confirmed negative and 273 were confirmed as positive. Two patients who tested positive for COVID-19 have died."

Earlier, health secretary Matt Hancock said on Saturday night that the government was doing everything in its power to be ready to delay the threat from coronavirus - which has now killed more than 3,600 people worldwide.

There are concerns the NHS may struggle to cope if the virus spreads quickly, so self-isolation will be used to try to slow it down.

Professor Martin Marshall, chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners, told Sky News using retired doctors was "a good idea" if it was done carefully.

Speaking to the Sophy Ridge on Sunday programme, he said: "Those doctors, because they would likely to be a higher risk group, would not do face-to-face patient contact but there's lots of other things they can do, like managing 111, providing online care for patients.

Meanwhile, Moscow has announced a prison term of up to five years for those who fail to self-isolate.
bit extreme !

My experience of 111 has been great,i have spoken to them 2/3 times this week, they are quick to answer and have arranged both of my visits in to get help, just do what they tell you to do if you need to call them
