FA Youth Cup

Not really up to speed on the kids, how did we get on in the youth cup, can’t find anything on the website about it
I thought they'd cancelled all of youth football but apparently the FA Youth Cup is the only one they didn't. As of the end of May they were talking about playing it at the start of next season (whenever that may be) but I can see it just getting abandoned myself. They can't play it until they've had a pre-season and played a few league games for starters, playing a semi and final as the first games of the season would be a farce. You've also got the problem of contracts and eligibility to contend with.

Thanks for that. Yes, those players 18 now (or before end of July) wont be eligable after 1st August..

If it's completed which I hope it is, surely the fa would use the start of the compy as a rule for eligibility on age.

The biggest problem could be players nolonger at a club.

I was thinking back to 1986....
The victorious youth team were unable to defend the Lancashire FA Youth Cup.
In the 1st round (there were 1st round, semi and final) City beat Oldham 12-0 (still a City youth team record) but could not fit in the semi or final because of bad weather and backlog of A team games and the FA Youth Cup run.
The cup was postponed and then restarted as a pre season tournament in August 86 - but those players who were 18 before the end of July were ineligible. Only Lakey, Hinchcliffe and Steve Mills (and subs Steve Macauley / John Clarke) from the cup winning team were eligable
City lost the semi final and lost the grip on the cup we had won the previous 4 years.

Had the team been able to defend the Lancs cup I am certain they would have won the treble..... Lancashire A League champs, FA and Lancs FA Youth Cup winners
