Fair enough i didnt think it was that much and it will be interesting to see if contractually no football means the tv media can not pay monies owed?

No doubt another court case.

When the Setanta ITV deal went bump, it almost bankrupted football, such was their reliance on TV money.

Which sponsors are going to keep paying in cash if there is no product, either?

Arsenal make even more than United on a matchday and, if I were a Spurs fan, I'd be very worried in terms of cash flow.

Wherw is the cash to pay the players' wages during downtime?

If the players refuse to play, plenty will be bankrupted overnight.

So many clubs take TV advances for cash flow purposes.

City do it, but we have deep pockets to withstand a shutdown.

The FA are facing oblivion. Don't even have insurance for non events at Wembley.

Unfortunately whilst the demise of some due to a shutdown is heartwarming, its also why it simply wont be allowed too happen.

Players striking aside, they will find a way of getting the matches on and i read yesterday that tv had been approached to televise games played behind closed doors?

If City were in serious trouble Mansour would just put the money in.

I’m sure they’d make allowances for this at Premier League level in order to stop clubs running into financial trouble.

Even if they didn’t, the club would be fine from a financial perspective even if we got shit for the way we balanced the books.

Totally agree with that, any shutdown is likely to be fatal for many lower league clubs sadly, I don't think anyone wants that.

No and they should be told right now that any shutdown of football will see them compensated for their average gates at the very least.

Football is fucking awash with money and there is no excuse to see clubs fold because of this.

United take £4m a game in matchday revenue, you sure about that?

Sky aren't going to pay out TV revenue if there is nothing to broadcast.

Same goes for BT and the Champions League.

People need to start realising it isn't about empty stadiums anymore, it is about empty pitches.

Financial fair play suspended due to exceptional circumastances? Ha!

No players. No telly. You cannot force players to play, be treated any differently to the rest of society.

They are also rich enough to sit it out at home.

Haha. Sheikh Mansour could always offer a rescue package again like Barclays.

His response would be priceless.

Glazer pygmy: "Your HH, most humble and compassionate, can you float us £40m until the resumption of football again"

Sheikh Mansour: "You sucked the cock of the Red Devil and now you will have to swallow and, anyhow, I'm having to get by myself on $20 dollars a barrel every second."

City need a good 3 signings this summer to kick on again. Cash will be king more than ever and we have plenty, no?

Call me suspicious, but funny our game is the first home prem game called off? When we are playing one of our American owned teams. On the basis of one player shaking someone’s hand.

There won't be a transfer window IMO. Insurers and medicals won't happen.

Why would there be? No player is going to be uprooting themselves and family at such a time.

I'll say it again, football and such will become irrelevant.

People may suggest I am overstating the threats being posed, but I don't think we will be back watching a football game anywhere until next year when the plug is pulled.

Concentrate on your fellow human being and having money just to keep going.

When this is all over/a vaccine developed, it could be a year from now.

Wow I didn’t think of that much of an impact to be honest, time will tell I suppose, stay safe fellow blues.

This could quite easily come to pass. We are still in the very early days of this virus, especially in the West, infection rates can be expected to keep rising, possibly doubling.

It will likely be six months at the least before anything starts to calm down, if we are already at the point of considering closing things down, especially gatherings of people, and things are likely to get worse before getting better, I don't see how this season can finish and you could argue it would be silly to try.

I hate to agree with such a stark outlook, but it’s looking more and more like it will be this way with each day that passes. Football and other sports will be judged as frivolous in the coming weeks as we work through everything we can to limit the impacts.
