Dutch are not closing schools either. Think they recognise that approximately a third of health staff have young children and closing schools would severely reduce the number of available staff. Would imagine that the picture is similar in the UK and perhaps explains why the government remains loathed to make such a decision.

As many of us have said, they are in a very difficult position, and in many cases are damned whatever they do.

I think most of the criticism centres on the belief that they are not trying to optimise for health outcomes, but rather economic outcomes. Whether that proves to be a better approach than other countries are taking remains to be seen, but I think it is a reasonable criticism thus far.

That could all change in a week or two depending on how things progress, of course. I am obviously among those that wish they had been more proactive sooner, though.
