It is good to see that this thread follows the pattern of all threads. Culminating in some people .(normally the same people ) being world experts on the subject. Also a few conspiracy theories, a couple of piss takers, and of course @karen7 delving into her vast medical expertise and experience to add a little bit of sense to the inevitable slanging match that occurs.

I read that mr Putin has declared that it would be beneficial to Russia if his presidential term is reset so as to be better prepared to deal with corona victims....er virus, without the hassle of having to....ahem,persuade the voters to reinstate him. Why let a global catastrophy get in the way of your dicta....sorry, I mean presidency. Err, just realised that the KGB could read this, I hope I dont get a visit from a couple of mr Putins sight seeing buddies shortly. If I dont post again you will know whats happened.

They are hoping that but still don't know and that is the problem, people making statements that you will be immune if you recover from it when no one is sure are not helpful.

So far there’s no significant data that closures & lockdowns are the way to go, Italy & Spain are still recording substantial numbers of cases/deaths every day. Obviously it seems to have helped in China but those extreme measures were never going to be workable over here.

We also don’t know whether as soon as they are let out of their homes that it won’t just start up again. Then what do they do? Lockdown indefinitely? That’s certainly not sustainable.

He very much did. In the briefing as I posted a couple of pages back and long before it was briefed it's been in the plan. Google COVID action plan or if you can't find it I'll provide a link. Closing schools is in there too so that will happen at the appropriate time. It will be described as a U-Turn by those who wish to attack the leadership.

I did over hear one of the singer's last night talking about closing bars etc he was talking to a Swedish couple who said they had been recalled home but they were avoiding the authorities I'm in fuertaventura think I might stock up on the cigs and tinnies.

I agree with your point in principle, but not with the timing. In Wuhan, the numbers of cases continued to rise for 12 days after the lockdown On day 13 they began to fall and then continued to fall rapidly.

I'd expect the same lag elsewhere. Indeed, checking up, I found this from Italy's foreign minister: Two weeks after the first 10 towns in northern Italy were declared a "red zone" and put under lockdown, he said they had no new infections.

Fair point, the 2nd bit is still valid mind. I suppose we’ll have to see what happens in China when lockdown is over. Has there been anything about that on the news?

The incubation period is on average 5 days. There is as yet no evidence that it is making a comeback. It's possible that there will be some repeated bouts of infection but I'd rather do that than accept that 70% of your population must acquire immunity through infection.
