I did wonder briefly whether once you’ve had the virus and recovered you might be allowed to help out your elderly neighbours. I know the answer is no because: 1) you can’t be sure you’ve had the virus if you haven’t been tested 2) they don’t know if you can still get it again and pass it on 3) you might still bring it on your hands or clothes

But it could be that in a couple of months time when the care system has totally broken down and all is chaos it might be a risk worth taking

Ive virtually cut it out today, as being on there a lot yesterday did my head in. From tomorrow, not sure I’ll go on it at all for a while.

Its full of fake news ,but also in this outbreak there will be isolated cases that go against the general trend, it may only be one case in 100,000 but because of twitter it gets highlighted and causes panic as people think it shows the accepted facts are wrong where these cases are very much the exceptions.

there is no post infection test yet.

The doctor who was just on 5 live said there is a test that will be available to show if people who have had the virus have become resistant to it. It’s a different est to showing whether some has the virus or not.

Why do you blindly believe that this is genuine?

Yes, I admit it could be, but surely the veracity of this should be checked before going off on one.

I had a note through the letter box this morning from a neighbour who’s put her name and phone number on with a message saying “if you are self isolating with COVID-19 I can help with picking up shopping, a friendly phone call, posting mail, urgent supplies. Just call or text me and I’ll do my best to help you (for free!)”

Good to have a good neighbour!

I’m not old but some of the elderly people around here will need that assistance.

Let’s be clear here, it clearly isn’t genuine. The idea that a hospital would have staff sat there monitoring posts on social media of relatives of patients and then going to the effort of calling them is completely absurd.

My son is a meter reader for one of the big power companies. He visits between 50 to 100 properties a day !
I spoke to him earlier and said surely your not still working tomorrow as normal ?
The only instruction they have had is a text that he forwarded to me.
“ please check with the customer before you go into their home if they or anyone as been in contact with anyone that have shown symptoms of corona virus.let them know you can’t enter “
I’ve told him this is not good enough as you are at risk and you and your mates could be spreading it .
It seems big companies are not taking this seriously no surprise with the guidance we’ve had

Yep, I'd wait until at least local news picks up on something like that. Just one nameless faceless Twitter account is meaningless.

Not to mention the fact that even if it is true, it's not that significant. If 1 7 year old gets severely ill it is sad but you dont change you're entire opinion of a virus based on 1 person out of 300,000 cases worldwide.
