TWO schools in Winsford are closed today over two suspected cases of Coronavirus.
Wharton C of E Primary and Whitegate C of E Primary are shut.
It is not yet known when they will reopen.
Wharton headteacher Natalie Tomlinson informed parents and carers that the school on Greville Drive would remain closed on Monday.
Mrs Tomlinson posted on Facebook: "We have been made aware that a member of our school community has a suspected case of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and is therefore self-isolating for seven days as per the current guidance from Public Health England, the Government and the DFE.
"I am awaiting further details from Public Health England specific to our circumstances and until I know it is safe to open, school will be closed tomorrow, 16th March 2020.
"I will update you as soon as I can, once I have the relevant guidance from Public Health England. We are closing because I do not currently have the information I need in order to ensure the safety of the school community and therefore until I have the information I need we will close tomorrow."
Updates will be on the school website wharton.cheshire.sch.uk and the school Facebook page.
Whitegate C of E Primary School is also closed today, Monday, over a suspected case of coronavirus.
The closure was confirmed by headteacher Caroline Mackenzie in an email sent out to parents.
The person suspected of being infected with Covid-19 is currently in self-isolation in line with guidance from Public Health England.
In an email, Caroline Mackenzie, headteacher of Whitegate CofE Primary School, told parents: We have been made aware that a member of our school community has a suspected case of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and is therefore self-isolating for seven days as per the current guidance from Public Health England, the Government and the DFE.
"I am awaiting further details from Public Health England specific to our circumstances and until I know it is safe to open, school will be closed tomorrow, 16th March 2020.
"I will update you as soon as I can."
Both schools reopened on Tuesday.
Wharton headteacher Natalie Tomlinson told parents and carers: "I have now had a conversation with Public Health England (PHE) and can confirm that we can open on 17th March 2020.
"We have undertaken a deep clean of school and will continue to adopt the PHE guidance of handwashing and ‘catch it bin it kill it.’
"You will be aware that there is now no routine testing for COVID – 19; PHE states that if your child has symptoms of a cough or fever than you should self-isolate for 7 days and return to school on day 8.
"It is only those presenting with symptoms that need to self-isolate.
"As a school we are acting on the advice we have at this moment in time but this situation is developing daily and may change, so please check the school website and Facebook page regularly and ensure we have your up to date contact details.
