Heartbroken.

Me and my ex have just made the unbelievably difficult decision for my 6 year old son not to stay with me until this blows over.

I normally have him for 3 days a week but he lives in Hulme and I live in Oldham. I don't drive(I use the tram) and we both feel it's just too risky. Just spent a couple of hours with him and I fear it could be a while before I see him again
If only all children had such loving and sensible fathers. You have done the best thing for him mate.

no masks ,no proper clothing,no ventilators, but we have great financial help though, well acording to the great Boris, after losing my income decided to apply for universal credit online, at the end of completing the nightmare form i was then told to ring up and book an appointment at my job centre to show proof of id so they can pay me, over 3 hours waiting for tenm to pick up,so ive given up
Friend of mine did this other day, said he had an option of not showing Id, which then led him to a make sure your claim is valid as id will be needed in the future.

I have my immunotherapy on the 7th, I really hope they don’t cancel. I can still go can’t I if I’m careful ?

On the link in the text it says:

What should you do if you have hospital and GP appointments during this period?
We advise everyone to access medical assistance remotely, wherever possible. However, if you have a scheduled hospital or other medical appointment during this period, talk to your GP or specialist to ensure you continue to receive the care you need and determine which of these are absolutely essential.

That's difficult. At least you know that there almost no chance that he's in danger.

The situation in Spain isn't gonna get better any time soon. My best mate here is an A+E doctor and he just said the hospital he works in in Valencia is over full and cannot cope. Fallas was cancelled two weeks ago which is probably the cause of the current spike in the area.

It feels very surreal my work mate has just dropped of some food, he was wearing mask, and latex gloves, knocked on the door and stood back. I waved through the window and the money was left by the door. Once he was a good 30 yds away I stood by the door and said thanks etc....I bet the sight of him has scared the neighbours !

What's all this not going outside stuff? Shirley you can go in your own, fenced in back garden as long as you're not in contact with other people. No?
You can go out in your garden fine, out to get food and meds, work only if you have to ,with someone in your household but stay away from other people,a long way away

And only before the sun goes down. THEY come out at night.

2 days of 20% growth vs. The 33% growth is really really positive news.

The question is can we keep it up for another couple of days and be well off the Italian course.

Karen what's the time line for having this,? How long have you been suffering? Are you OK now?
I am not really the best one to gauge it on because it has set other conditions into relapse so i'm not sure,i can say i got it the weekend of the cup final, started with the worst of it 3-4 days later,it is what 3 weeks on now and i am still coughing and exhausted,i think in most people the worst of it will be about 7 days,if you are well you should be over it by then, they did say the cough would go on a while,we really need someone who s usually well to share how long it took them to get over it,remember this will be unpleasent but for MOST it will not be too bad

Just to add i have inhalers for the forseeable

I think you may be mistaken there.

https://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/median-age/

Germany 47.1 years 46 years 48.2 years
Italy 45.5 years 44.4 years 46.5 years
United Kingdom 40.5 years 39.3 years 41.7 years

Admittedly these are crude and probably over-simplified, but there is not way the relative ages of the populations could account for such a dramatic difference in death rates.

Going off today's figures we seem to be handling the problem at least in the hospitals to stop people dying. The question is if Italy's hospitals are swamped then is that the reason why Italy is seeing far more deaths?

It's no surprise that the countries doing more testing seem to be doing better. Germany probably has far less actual cases but they are just testing more and capturing more of them. We probably have far more cases than Germany despite them having more reported cases.

I think the death rate is massively overstated because the number of cases is clearly massively understated. If we did only have 8000 people with the virus with 300 dead already then this thing would be extremely lethal.

We obviously don't know how many are out there self-isolating with the virus and I reckon the number of actual cases is probably just into the hundreds of thousands. That means the death rate is relatively small, probably less than 1%.

The problem with this is the shear numbers. Even if the death rate was 1% then that doesn't sound bad but over the entire population that's still hundreds of thousands of deaths and god knows how many in hospital by the end of it....

Cheers for that
