yeah its not easy just to compare when not knowing when the figures were taken in the day, ours for example were 1pm 23rd to 1pm 24th so I actually counted those as "23rd", as its not the 23rd or the 24th :/
I was wondering similar. It might be that the UK is a day behind on the numbers based purely on what 24hr period they’re counting.

Qtr of million voluteers, I think many will take up the request.

But would it not have been an idea to temorarly offer those self employed and who have lost there jobs gaurenteed wages to fill this number, firstly to help them financially and secondly to fill the numbers imediately.

Those Italy numbers probably mean the deaths for today will pass 2000 worldwide for the first time. It was only about five days ago it past 1000.

We have all seen on social media all the people on top of each other on the underground,no way 2 meters away from each other so this is going to get worse in the coming days with more deaths. We need to close the underground now.

We have all seen on social media all the people on top of each other on the underground,no way 3 meters away from each other so this is going to get worse in the coming days with more deaths. We need to close the underground now.
We also need to close London

With millions still working it might be better to vastly increase number if trains and tubes.

Can't confirm the above figures but we have now reported 422 deaths which if the above figures are correct would mean the steep curve that Italy went on hasn't so far been replicated by us as 14 days ago Italy reported 631 deaths. March 5 to March 9 Italy's deaths increased by just over 325% whereas our increase is just under 200%. Neither are ideal and my sympathies go out to everyone affected by this virus.

Just for interest of the statistical peeps, the FT has chosen to plot all nations, starting from the day each reaches ten deaths. It's on a logarithmic scale. This chart does not include todays figures.
FWIW, we can see here that Italy reached it's tenth death 14 days before us, and using that as a starting point would have us, and others, worse off at this stage than Italy. I'm loathe to offer reasoning for statistics at this stage, but it is worth bearing in mind that Italy's initial outbreak was extremely localised.

On that note, 742 deaths in Italy on today’s reporting. Gone up again I think [emoji853]
Its very sad, but I guess after the recent high figures for new cases in Italy fatalities will carry on rising even after new cases start to fall off. At least the new cases there seem to have levelled off even if they haven’t started to significantly drop yet.
