COVID-19 — Coronavirus

It can function without him until his mum dies. And if he dies before his mum then William steps in. I despise Johnson but totally agree he should have been tested regularly, he's running the country (of sorts) and is at the centre of our response to the virus. I am ambivalent regarding the monarchy generally, but I don't believe anything would have been any different regarding the coronavirus crisis in this country for him having been tested. At least if a doctor who is currently isolating had been tested then they might have been able to go back to work and treat someone. That is what I call making a practical difference.
If nothing else, Charles dying from Covid-19 would have caused a significant degree of potentially avoidable disruption, would have negatively impacted on the morale of a significant proportion of the population and reduced our international standing if he hadn’t been tested after displaying symptoms. For the resources that we’re deployed in conducting the test, it seems a fair trade-off to me.

Doubt he had it done on the NHS anyway.

I too am ambivalent about the Monarchy btw.

It doesn't - just requires sufficient antibodies in the recovered population to stop transmission of the virus - vaccination is simply a quicker way of achieving that.
You're a funny guy, but you should stop wriggling. It's not a political issue, it's medical. It usually requires a vaccine, so it's misleading to call it a natural process.

Thanks but if viral epidemics usually needed a vaccine to end them homo sapiens and every other animal species would have been wiped out soon after they evolved.

Boris is a key worker, he’s the fucking PM.

Charles is heir to our constitution and elderly.

How people cannot understand why they’re important to test, I’ll never know.
It’s not that they’re ‘not important’ it’s the medics being used as canon fodder not getting the test that pisses me off. The doctor/nurse, saving lives or making death as comfortable as possible get a cough, no test. Self isolate for 7 days and come back to work, is what they get told.
As for Charles ‘being elderly’, yet more nonsense. I say nonsense because test isn’t given to the elderly, just to people in hospital.

Self fucking isolate so they don’t give it to every **** they meet.
Everyone else is supposed to do that following symptoms but they don’t get a test. I’m really moaning about lack of testing for symptomatic people. We’re still reporting fewer cases than Germany and France and almost the same number as Switzerland, which everyone knows is crap.
I suppose the good news is that Johnson and Hancock can both go and do some portering work on the covid ravaged wards, without fear of catching it again...

Blood transfusions of plasma from the donated blood from recovered cases would do the same. Probably only necessary for those at risk who are starting to show symptoms.

We don't have a constitution but Laws set out by parliaments consent and our constitutional lawmaking and govrnance do not involve the monarchy except as a ceremonial thing.

The hier to the throne has no more right to imediate testing as any commoner under the UK bill of rights

As for the PM, as head of the country he needed to be tested, as does any minister.

Yes we do. We really really do have a constitution.

He might not have the absolute right to take one over anyone else but it’s common sense.

What impact does Charles have as a leader of our country in any practical terms? Should have used his test for an NHS worker imo.
Regardless of political affiliation or ideology the country still has to be kept running and it's systems kept in order and functioning.
These people are crucial to this.
They are equally important as the health workers, as are the police, and army and all institutions if the state. Otherwise there would be anarchy as well as a pandemic.
To keep going on about this, at a time like this is s bit churlish in my view.
