Left Back?

Been set a task by a fellow blue - name the best City starting 11 that I have ever witnessed playing live

Now I started going around 1972, so I've seen a player or two, but call me old fashioned, I'm stumped for a left back

Obviously I know the answer isn't Angelino, Brightwell (D), Tarnat or Thatcher

I'm pretty sure it can't by Clichy, Kolly, Mendy or Pearce

But is it Phelan, or Power, or do I actually have to go back as far as Donachie? Pardoe was still knocking about in 72 I imagine, but I'd be lying if I said I can actually remember him playing

Or maybe the correct answer is somebody that I have completely forgotten about in my brain-addled aged state

Any tips, Blue-Mooners?
The mention of Paul Power got me thinking of other non specialists particularly one of my early favourites Clive Wilson. Following on from that I'm nominating Delph purely on the 100 point season but as a consistent specialist since Donachie I'm struggling beyond Phelan. Bobby Mc had his moments never forget his performance between the sticks against Watford.

It's been a problem position all my life tbh. We've had plenty that have done a good job for a season, but no-one who's really nailed the position down and made it their own.

Who are some of the great left backs over the years? Stuart Pearce. Ashley Cole.

Forgot to mention 'he's the left back remember' although his TV career has sullied his reputation somewhat

Lee Briscoe, Murtaz Shelia, Danny Granville or he best number 3 for a while Richard Edgehill.

The assumption that Tarnat was not a good player makes the thread pointless anyway.

Doing something similar with my bro, city 11 in their prime since ‘90.

My selection probably won’t help. And I was going to go with Terry Phelan myself. I put Milner at LB, my bro isn’t a city fan but has huge football knowledge, he couldn’t think of one either so he put Laporte.

I wonder how Terry would’ve got on under Pep. Imagine the pace of him and Walker with Sane and Sterling ahead. So much pace even Otamendi would get away with sitting himself down as much as he does
