Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Premier League players have been told today that clubs are set to lose £1.367 billion over the coronavirus crisis suspension, in broadcast income and sponsorship.

Of the 30% proposed wage cut, 20% would be repaid if the remaining games were played behind closed doors and there was no rebate to broadcasters. The players have agreed to consider the proposals

Only 10% of our wages down you say? Isolation camp it is!!!

Can see it being held behind closed doors in the summer - maybe Mid to late may over 2 months. Will give the country a semblance of something to do watching games on TV.

Have LFC players applied for exemption in view of their financial difficulties of their club ?

Going to ask for money back from BT. Bet there's some small print in my contract. I wonder which overpaid lawyer worded the contract between the Premier League and Sky/BT?

Discusting what Liverpool and Spurs etc are doing they should be made to sell there players to raise the money. This makes a complete joke of FFP if they cant survive how many weeks now. How do these clubs survive the summer?

Premier League players want to ensure their financial contributions will support: - Clubs they play for, particularly if the crisis goes beyond June. - Non-playing staff – guaranteeing 100% of their wage - EFL and non-league staff and players - The NHS

The PFA have stated that £20 million is 'welcome', but believe this financial support could be 'bigger

PFA: “30% salary deduction will cost Exchequer substantial sums. This would be detrimental to NHS.... What effect does this loss to the gov’t mean for NHS? Was this considered in PL proposal & did Matt Hancock factor this when asking players to take cut

Apparently Wimbledon has insurance that covers this pandemic so they will lose nowt with there cancellation!

So the bloke chelsea raves about and got every premier club to pay him a nice bonus never thought of this type of insurance knowing a few months with no money coming into he majority of premier clubs would put them in deep shit!

Yep Scudamore Should be giving back every penny of that 5m bonus.
