Red Ed as Shadow Business Secretary? Guess it's to appease the cultists and not go too moderate, too soon. Let them still feel involved, smart move.

I wouldn’t say the New Labour bunch are such and Starmer seems a totally reasonable man.

He’s got a sense of maturity about him.

I’ll have to see their manifesto first but he seems capable.
I think he's actually kept some pretty lw parts of corbyns policy intact (nationalisation of rail and utilities),.

He will do.

He’s probably slightly more left than Miliband, if not very similar.

He’s too left wing for me but he seems a decent bloke.

Very impressive background and someone who who could unite both the socialist and centralist factions, if given time. Well the sensible socialists, who have stayed around and not joined Galloway’s latest vanity project.

Starmer would have realised he was light on Jewish members of the shadow cabinet give he says he's committed to addressing bigotry

Starmer's wife, Victoria Alexander, comes from a Jewish background and through her he has extended family living in Tel Aviv.

“My wife’s family is Jewish. Her dad is Jewish, their family came over from Poland. The extended family live in Israel,” he told Britain’s Jewish News in February.

Starmer did not bring Miliband in as a token Jewish face.

Miliband is there for very sound political reasons.

Did you mean "did not" re. Miliband mate? I don't see Ed has a token appointment but it would have looked a bit lame of Starmer said he was going to tackle bigotry and then underrepresented Jewish people in the Shadow Cabinet.

I am more sceptical of Lammy's appointment that Miliband's, on the basis of competence. I worked in the Department of Health when D.L. was a Health Minister. The MP for Tottenham was also keen to criticise Premier League football but went into self isolation when asked to comment on Tottenham's furloughing of staff IIRC.

Hey, knownothing, why did Miliband not serve under Corbyn? And if he wouldn't serve under Corbyn, why would his appointment now appease the cultists?

Or maybe you should just post another lizard pic.
It was the cultists anointing Ed Miliband as the leader that has led to a decade of Tory austerity. And many of you are still too far gone to see it.

David Miliband would have absolutely wiped the floor with this bunch of fucking idiots running the country now.

But instead of learning from what works, what the country votes for, how to make a difference to people's lives, we had 10 years of the Student Union singing Billy Bragg songs and 4 election defeats in a row. Cheers.

Yes, I corrected it.

I'm no fan of Lammy, nothing I've seen leads me to believe he's up to the job.

If so then....

Why did Miliband not serve under Corbyn? And if he wouldn't serve under Corbyn, why would his appointment now appease the cultists?

under-represented?
I think a third of Jewish labour MPs are in the shadow cabinet!

The cultists are the far-left who put their own teenage fantasies of wearing Army and Navy jackets while singing Billy Bragg songs while drinking home made cider ahead of running the country.

I'll try again.....

Why did Miliband not serve under Corbyn? And if he wouldn't serve under Corbyn, why would his appointment now appease the cultists?

I'll give you a clue, when Miliband was elected leader Neil Kinnock celebrated saying "he'd got his party back". When Corbyn was elected Kinnock would have nothing to do with him, calling on him to resign in 2016.

For the last time....

Why did Miliband not serve under Corbyn? And if he wouldn't serve under Corbyn, why would his appointment now appease the cultists?

One thing all labour factons should be happy about is this cabinet doesn't have Jess phillips or Richard burgon in it.
