Keir Starmer

under-represented?
I think a third of Jewish labour MPs are in the shadow cabinet!

Thanks Vic and I am only interested in appointments on merit but I might have looked at the list in too much haste before commenting. That said, if the numerator of Jewish MPs was diluted during Corbyn's latter years (and I don't have the figures), a third might not be any great shakes.

As a traditional Labour voter, the sort of issues that will inform whether I continue to vote Labour include why Starmer had such a low profile in relation to prosecuting the child grooming / rape gangs and whether the Shadow Cabinet will be in any position to criticise any future abuses in the West Bank and Gaza Strip after Leadership and Vice Leadership candidates signed up to a charter that suggests otherwise.

I'll try again.....

Why did Miliband not serve under Corbyn? And if he wouldn't serve under Corbyn, why would his appointment now appease the cultists?

I'll give you a clue, when Miliband was elected leader Neil Kinnock celebrated saying "he'd got his party back". When Corbyn was elected Kinnock would have nothing to do with him, calling on him to resign in 2016.

For the last time....

I'll try again. For the last time.

The cultists are the far-left of the party. Ed Miliband, Len McClusky, Billy Bragg, Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell, you.

Irrespective of whether there are differences between you all, you're all part of the problem that has led to 4 election trouncings in a row.

So now you've got two options -
1. Learn from the last 50 years about how a Labour party can win power and help make people's lives better and back Starmer.
2. Carry on with the 1970s Student Union politics that will never win power and become a protest group like George Galloway's.

The 3rd option of trying to drag the party and the country to a far-left position has not worked. It's over. All it does is guarantee Tory rule forever.

Rest assured, I don't thing you're avoiding the question because it undermines your bollocks, I think you're avoiding it because you haven't got a clue.

Never mind, throw it on the large heap of everything else you don't know.

I’ve not really bothered when this thread but please don’t tell me that there’s people still backing Jeremy Corbyn? Rascal aside obviously.

All of his fan club sucked in around 2017 have seen the light. He was unelectable and, more importantly, deeply dangerous.

Yeh clearly some of them are beyond salvation.

You just don’t understand mate, that’s why, there’s not really an argument to it other than you don’t understand.

That’s all he’s got left to throw at people.

Life must be fucking miserable at the moment for the far left, who genuinely thought they had a chance before Christmas.

He wasnt deeply dangerous because he had no power and no possibility of ever getting any. Unelectable, yes

Whether corbyn was a waste of time or not, surely you are happy that the next generation were re-energized into taking an interest in politics and the future of the country.

Vast swathes of the population never register to vote and had become apathetic towards politicians.

If any good came out of corbyns time is that he got the younger voter interested in politics, as you can see from many MPs those that start out as trots, commies and bennites soon drift into centre ground thinking.

no, not really, because it turned out they were ideological, under-educated wannabe faux Robin Hood's.

Indeed but the question now is do these youngsters who bought into Corbynism so heavily, my second youngest lad included look at Starmer and feel the same way.

My lad is momentum and made it clear he isnt happy at all. Of course one person not being happy wont kill Starmer off but my lad is a part of momentum and a very sizeable group that all think the exact same way on these things.

Make no mistake the new leader has a fight on his hands, one i hope he wins and going off his start i can finally see some hope for Labour again.

No mate, there's nothing new under the sun, the exact same types were around in the '60's, in fact,
they were in far greater numbers. They learn, eventually, but they get replaced by new wide eyed idealists,
who also get their turn at devastating disappointment, and on it goes. it was ever thus.

As I said most young left wingers change with age, the problem is as with the right wing is social media is aflood with cranks who like to make the most noise, and are whippin gup decent for no reason at present.

Some arses on the left are too busy crying about that clown burgon losing a cabinet post instead of rationaling, though he is an inteligent and commited MP, he also is terrible at public speaking, too rigid in his beliefs and comes across sounding like a thick twat.

Sometimes you have to step back look and say let's see what happens.

Bo mommentum memebr , and no disrespect to your son should be negative until policy is announced, if it is a lurch back to a soft right position then understandable that the left with be fucked off, but if it is a mix and match and electable then you back it and strive to removing the tories.

Registeation and voter turnout from the under 30s had been declining, that is wjat am on about, also as I said many young lefties end up more liberal and even some turn to the dark side and go full conservative ;-)

Tony blair was a in trotsky society as was kinnock and a few others in their teens who purged the left last time

You raised a momentum member? tut. It's like the poster on here who raised an Evertonian renegade offspring...
