I think it is the opposite lovely, they are not testing patients just the staff and they are not being taken to hospital
Unfortunately I'm correct ( for once). A resident that tests negative, for a test, having previously displayed symptoms, is given the option of hospitalisation.
After that. Someone showing symptoms in the same residence, is also given that option.(without test).
Now, this maybe a local trust procedure but it's definitely the case.

Not going to say where I work. But our guidance is to only use the masks when patients are displaying symptoms or have been aconfirmed as having covid.
No symptoms.. rock on

I'm genuinely scared at the moment when going to work.

I don’t really know what to say but do you have a union? Have they offered advice?

Not saying I agree but if we are going to discus should be based on fact hearsay and gossip helps no one my daughter works in A&E at a major hospital and I am scared for her and my 3 grand daughters but only the facts can win the argument

Sorry have deleted and pm'd as copyright
Thanks, lots to read and i will

I don't agree that a consultant treating 100's of patients and the royal college of nursing is hearsay and gossip

Thank your daughter for working on the frontline and i hope she stays safe

Ah right, thanks,i have lost track of where i have read stuff now but i read the not going to hospital bit

That is a nonsense given a lot of people dont have symptoms and might be in there for something else ,i really feel for all of you,it must be scary when you are seeing people you work with dying, you should be able to wear a mask all shift
Not had to deal with that yet. We have loads of staff off though with symptoms or self isolating due to family having symptoms.

Nobody is counting strictly based on 24hrs but every country is giving out a daily figure
Well obviously you and the media are counting. But there is no point in comparing numbers across countries when 117 of our number were for 9th April and 700+ plus were for March and the first two weeks of April.

It’s idiotic and misleading and yet you’re still quoting it even after you know it’s not a daily number and you know it doesn’t represent a 24 hour period and you know therefore that it’s not comparable with any daily figure from any other country.

It’s like Liverpool adding two seasons worth of points against our tally for one season.

Yes and still not winning the league

France posted a higher death figure today than the UK, so higher also than Italy and Spain, too, which was similarly made up of earlier deaths. Over 3,000 have died in nursing homes.

It is not misleading as everyone knows it is not an exact 24hr figure, other countries are the same as far as i can see,the gov, media are using it as a daily figure and every briefing uses a data point on these figures, they are deciding on lockdown etc based on death rates as well as other data, maybe they would be better releasing it as a weekly figure so it covers the lag period but that would be too scary a number

It’s misleading when used to compare against any daily total for any other country.

I’ve no issue with you reposting the daily figure (though not sure why you need to when it’s been posted about 50 times today), I take issue with you posting “higher than x or y country’s largest daily total” because it’s misleading and irrelevant and most certainly isn’t comparing apples with apples.

And lock downs aren’t based on any daily figure such as the one you quote, lock downs will be based on hospital admissions and ICU availability.

They aren’t deciding lockdown on the daily deaths reported given to the media.

Im seriously beginning to think 1 or 2 on here are desperate for the figures to surpass elsewhere so they can say I told you so, fucking embarrassing how many people are either not reading the stats correctly or putting their own spin on it to suit their agenda.

Given that the UK is 42% bigger than Spain and 10% larger than Italy - if it does get as bad here the figures will be higher.
