Is the football bubble finally about to burst?

I don't want to be all negative and gloomy on this sunny morning in Manchester but been thinking about the general state of football.

This coupled with all the sycophantic reporting certain clubs get (every 'effin day) which stands out like a sore thumb, even more so now football's on hold which surely people must be sick and tired of hearing by now, raises the question, has football reached it's tipping point?

Are many fans up and down the Country going to think twice about returning to football stadiums and mixing with other people in large crowds once the Government gives the all clear?

(We'll be OK though as no fcuker watches us apparently and if we request permission to kick off 80 minutes later than the official kick off scheduling, the stadium will be practically empty anyway.!)

A lot of football fanbases are made up of fans who have followed their teams for years and are of, shall we say, mature stature.

Will these fans all return? If not, are there enough younger supporters coming through to replace them?

It will be interesting to see the attendances once football does resume.

I think the media will have to stock up on red pens and get used to drawing circles or it that form of reporting only reserved for us?

I like many cancelled SKY Sports and BT and have not missed it at all.

I don't buy newspapers and have gone from listening to talk shite in the car every morning and night going to and from work to hardly ever now..

My season card will be up for renewal shortly and I too will have a decision to make..

Football has played a big part in my life and has been responsible for a large part of my emotional well being for as long as I can remember..

Genuinely, I’ve forgotten all about it, don’t look at any of the attempted football-related threads on here, and don’t miss it at all.

I don't know, I think this virus will further alienate a lot of middle aged fans like me who have been through the bad times, I was at most of the scary away days in that thread, will we ever see another Aguerooooooo moment? Of course not.

I enjoy the socialising with my son who travels from the Oxford area whilst working for games including night ones.

I suspect we'll carry on going but feel more distant from football. I'd guess that alot of people will feel the same.

It'll adapt and the new 'hardcore' will be fans who never see a ground/never see the teams live etc.

Things will change in peoples minds once it does return,that's guaranteed.

If some decide not to go,well that's their choice,but the sheer boredom,especially at weekends will entice people to go the match I think.

As for the red circle media buffoons,they will always exist,but even some of those should take a step back from iditotic tactics going forward.

But..…….from my perspective,season ticket renewal is a huge decision to absorb I agree

i am using myself as a yardstick. i'm 65 and have photo's me kicking a ball about as a two year old. ok 55 years watching City but absolutely loved the game in general. i'd watch any team that entertained, even the rags. Charlton and Best were unbelievable players.Baresi,Messi,Moore all world class. now if someone like me says "enough" then it comes from a heavy heart.that how damaged our game. i've not missed it one bit. my family is desperate to renew next season i'm dead against it. bear in mind it only cost 400 quid for me and wife is free, home and away. so its not the money its all about the main reason i mentioned earlier ,entertainment, its taken off you by a guy 200 miles away in a studio.
Martyn Tyler was right when he said "so watch it,drink it in, you'll never see anything like it again" and we wont.....they wont allow us to.

I was also kicking a ball before i could walk, and did so every day for 45 years. The one constant in my life and the bedrock on which my relationship with my Dad was based on. He took me to my first City game when i was 11 and we talked footy right up until the day before he died.
The game has helped me get through some of life's lower moments and going to the game was an escape from reality for a few hours. Sadly that is no longer the case.
Every man and his dog now has an 'opinion' and the louder they spout their shite seems to be exponential with their lack of actual football knowledge. Some call it 'banter' but it's really just trying to take the piss, and it's fucking annoying.

Genuinely spent too long in the recent past being pissed off about the game and this is at our most successful ever period!!
Life’s too short, I’ll still log on here because it keeps me amused and entertained but as far as premier league football goes? I’m out.

I am 60 this year and before the virus I was talking about this being my last season as a match goer. The 600 mile round trip is getting abit much now for me, what with ko of times being moved from 3pm Saturday which I book than moved to 4pm sunday meaning get back home at 3 or 4 am for a 7am start the next day. Than we have VAR enough said.

These days anger seems to be my default emotion when once it was joy and excitement.

i couldnt have put it better, i have been to some games this year and felt this , utd at home in the league, again it was VAR that brought it on. I want to go to football enjoy the game win or lose but now it just feels bent to me. Like many i have waited years to see City top again but the sad thing is thanks to the press/media, tweet, facebook, VAR, UEFA, Sky, BT, BBC, etc i am so close to walking away from football, its not the game i use to love and follow. I have been to about 7 or 8 home games and enjoyed about half. The Atlanta and Vale games I was out number by their fans in our section. Port Vale got heated at times with a few asking me for a fight , F**k me I am an out of shape 60yr old being asked out in our own stadium by 20yr old away fans in our end !!

I still want to go but part of me thinks its to bent and i should save my weekends for family and my money to !. If i thought the game was straight i wouldn't miss a game, i think !. If i still lived close to Manchester i guess i would still go but being so far away its a long drive home and the main talking point is nearly always VAR. But I think the main point for me thinking of packing it in was at Wembley when I felt nothing, I couldnt get excited, I don't know if that was because it was a final or if I was so worried about the virus and didn't really want to be there. I don't know.

Football now in England is to sterile we will never get to celebrate a late winner because it will go to VAR to check it for 3 minutes, that's not the game I signed up to all those years ago. I miss that.

I think me going will depend on my lad if he still wants to go than he will take me, at the moment i could take it or leave it.

People are going to have less disposable income to spend or are going to be smarter about how they spend it. Which means luxury items, especially expensive ones will be the first thing to go.

Sky Sports/BT Sports can cost anywhere from £40 a month on up depending on deals. That's £480 on up a year. They already have had declining ratings now this will lead to a lot of cancellations. This will equal a lower rights deal when they come up next.

Then add that to ticket prices, travel costs, food costs etc... Most people were likely spending £100+ per game. Probably around £2,000+ a year (if going to around 20 games) Another thing people could either knock on the head or go less. This will lead to ticket prices being reduced I reckon.

Then there's sponsors. Nike, Adidas are losing money right now. Gambling companies are losing money with no sports to bet on. Airlines are not flying anywhere.

The bubble is bursting big time, even when football resumes, the income generated is going to be massively decreased.

I know how you feel BBTM, I'll probably renew my season card but the break were currently experiencing from football and the way some clubs have gone about manipulating the situation has definitely taken the shine off things for me..!
