The Labour Party

Anyway back on topic.

the Tories have come under fire for having inexperienced people in leading roles and it looks to me like the opposition too have done a similar thing.

Lisa Nandy looks competent and whilst she wasn’t leader material I reckon she’ll do a pretty good job in cabinet.

Antisemitism is vile, but not sure how you can state that one form of hatred is more vicious than all others?
You're normally so good at seeing the bigger picture but you've never really got this point about antisemitism. We've had so many conversations on this when you've asked me "How is that antisemitic?" when you're normally so well attuned to all sorts of bias and prejudice.

The Holocaust was a deliberate, political & systematic attempt to wipe out a whole group of people, on an industrial scale. I'd say that gave antisemitism, where hatred turned into action, a certain status. It's not been the only example in the last 100 years or so though. Three other events where hatred turned to an attempt at extermination come to mind primarily. Those are the Ottoman genocide against Armenians, the genocide against the Tutsi tribe in Rwanda and the events in the former Yugoslavia, which were on a smaller scale but still horrific.

But what makes those different is that they were what you might call "local" issues. Simmering tensions exploded into mass murder among neighbours. Antisemitism on the other hand is a global issue. Most people have no issue with Bosnian Muslims, Tutsi or Armenians but you'll struggle to find anywhere where there aren't significant number who hate Jews. You've even got leaders of countries like Hungary & Malaysia who are openly antisemitic. There aren't even enough adult male Jews to form a minyan (a 10-man prayer quorum) in Malaysia. There are very few religious or national groups that don't harbour antisemites. It's even a hatred that crosses political divides, as the fact we're talking about it in a thread about a supposedly left-wing or socialist party that would say anti-racism was one of its keystone beliefs, yet is under formal investigation for antisemitism and ha expelled or otherwise dsiciplined a number of its own members.

The other reason it's particularly vicious is that people disguise their antisemitism behind "anti Zionism". They don't have the courage to say they hate Jews but hide that behind hatred of Israel. Yet "anti-Zionism" is, by definition, antisemitism as it denies the right of self-determination to Jews. There's no other group on the planet where that happens. Perhaps the Kurds are the closest but there's no Western, supposedly progressive political group that has anti-Kurdistan sentiment at its heart. No one ever says "I'm not anti-Muslim, I just hate Saudi Arabia".

Finally, there are people who self-identify as Jewish, like Jackie Walker and many in Jewish Voice For Labour, so that they can criticise Jews and Israel and claim they can't be antisemitic because they're "Jewish".

So I think ban-jani has a fair point to be honest.

Tbf Ban you called the other two posters Clowns last night. Now someone else has called you one and they are getting personal. You also said the whole forum would turn on @Mazzarelli's Swiss Cheese & @Alan Harper's Tash when they read this thread. And guess what, nothing. I think you need some deep breaths mate and to wind down & relax. Not just you either.

I have received over the last week many pms from people on the centre and right who no longer bother with the politics forums because of the obvious bias and the responses from the pack of wolves who are on the extreme left. Fair play to ban jani for having a go. His efforts will be fruitless however. Like banging your head against a brick wall. Just sit back and enjoy the next 9 years of conservative government because that is what will be happening in spite of all the nonsense spouted on social media.

Is it true all the shadow cabinet voted remain?

Sorry to interject but every time i hear Starmer speak i am filled with increasing hope that he is the man to lead Labour back to a position where it can genuinely win elections once again.
Ok.

From 2004 onwards the director of public prosecutions told the police not to prosecute Muslim rape gangs to prevent "Islamophobia".

That director was Keir Starmer, now the leader of the Labour party, who just promoted Naz Shah to his front bench, the Pakistani Muslim who thinks English children should keep quiet about being raped for the sake of "diversity

From Wikipedia.

Director of Public Prosecutions
In July 2008, Attorney General Baroness Scotland of Asthal named Starmer as the new Head of the Crown Prosecution Service and Director of Public Prosecutions; he took over from Ken Macdonald on 1 November 2008.[22] Macdonald, himself a former defence lawyer, publicly welcomed the appointment.[13]

Also played a starring role in ensuring Sir Jimmy Savile was never brought to court.

He can't, he's unable to accept any form of criticism and starts foaming at the mouth, to be honest it's become amusing, he's like a parody account

There has been systematic shit stirirng and undemining of the party for a long time by the progress, right wing of the party, they have always been the ones that back stab and undermine all other wings unless they get their way, the reason many moderate left wingers and the socialist left in the party call them blue labour or tory lite is because they act exactly like the conservatives in they don't mind shiting on everybody to get power.

Starmers one mistake is allowing some of them back into the fold as they will stab him the back if they deem it necessary.

Just after my MP Azfal Khan was selected by our CLP to fight the by-election labour member and Patrick Henegahan who is all over these released dossiers actively encouraged and hoped that the lib dems would win the seat rather than see the labour candidate they didn't want win.

If you’re going to repeat someone else’s lies you should at least get your facts right about who was the DPP at the time in question if you want to retain any credibility.

It’s not foaming at the mouth or not taking criticism it’s the calling out of a group of hard left cowards who snipe from the sides without engaging in the actual topic.

Always seems to be late at night when you’ve had a couple and feel a tiny bit braver.

Such as that little boy @bellbuzzer who just likes everything that’s personal against me but doesn’t ever get involved.

The fact is my point was backed up by an ex mod who is Jewish and I see none of you cunts have bothered to reply to that.

You engage in ganging up but duck the topic.

The fact most of you are middle aged and engage in school yard tactics just shows how miserable your lives must be.

Well well well, who'd a thought it? It's actually the right of the party that are the sly cult like twats.

Some truly horrible things coming out. Worse that I've seen so far is Jon Ashworth's wife saying the party, specifically Tom Watson, purposefully gave Ken Livingstone a soft punishment to embarrass JC and create a crisis!

Well, the Labour party is now in a real crisis. In fact I'd say they are completely and utterly fucked. They've lost the left, they'll lose the youth, they've lost the Jewish, they've lost the traditional voters. All they'll have left is centrist dads.

This report doesn't shy away from and admits that there were and are issues within parts of labour with antismitism, just as there is in all parties and walks of life.

What is damning is that it shows that former general secretary Ian McNichol was consistently and wilfully ignoring or putting off dealing with complaints to allow them to build up into an avalanche of cases all at once, showing no regard for Jewish members comcerns and the issues being dealt with imediately, while going on shows like newsnight shifting the blame.

All anti-semitism in the party is shameful, but usuing as a tool for your own ends.. as McNicholl did is criminal.

As I said at the top the report doesn't deny anti-semitism exists in labour and I don't deny it either although I hate the fact it is there, but it was an issue that could have been dealt with yet some on the left sat with their fingers in their ears hoping it wasn't while those on the right ignored it to use to their advantage, both disgraceful actions

This report was originally going to the investigation and has now been dropped from the documentation list, now as it is damning against members of the right of the party I would hope this wasn't deliberate with the new regime

Opened up FB this morning to see an avalanche of friends cancelling their labour memberships.
