Why can’t people just stop at the point that says he’s a terrible president, probably the worst and likely the worst there will ever be, and be done with it?

Has it occurred to some that perhaps that is the top and bottom of it? That he’s just an utterly shit president?

You sound like a decent and compassionate human being and like you I try to draw the line at hatred. There are no mitigating factors for Trump though that I am aware of and no redeeming features. Do I hate him? You’re right it’s a strong word. You mention in another post we only see the politician not the human being. I disagree, Trump the politician is exactly Trump the human being, he lacks the skill to present himself as anything other than what he is, which I think we can agree is a ****.

It’s the fact that he is a **** in such a position of influence that is so bad.

He shows what a wretched human being he is through all his statements and actions as president, same as he did as a businessman: greedy., narcissistic, crude, oafish, nasty, without empathy - but I will stop at those.

It is, but then I'd probably level that at pretty much every politician. If there is one field where I separate business and personal direction, it is politics.

There are too many politics in politics, and often those involved are ultimately in it for self gain because that's just the nature of the game they are playing.

I wouldn't be inclined to suggest that Johnson for example, is a twat of a human just because he is a twat of a politician.

I haven't sat around a dinner table with him. I haven't shared a glass of the finest rioja. I don't know him on a personal level.

What I do know is he is a shocking president. I know I don't conform to his political or business leadership.

But those are 2 different things.

Pretty simple stuff.

Trump isn't a twat of a human because he's a twat of a politician. That's not what anyone is saying. He was a public figure for nearly 30 years before he was elected. There are thousands upon thousands of articles about him, quoting him -- literally a library full of evidence. You can read the books he wrote (or that have his name on them as author). You can watch television programs all about him. His twattishness has been on display for more than a generation.

I've heard Tony Schwartz speak at length about Trump and the Art of the Deal, and It's pretty clear he was never a fan.

It’s also a common trait of Asperger syndrome (Trump that is). In fact it would be an inability to follow reasoning and answer questions that challenge his views. He shows other traits of a ‘high achieving’ aspie.

However, who is to say he isn't a very compassionate father? Or a sound human being outside of his working life?

I'm not saying he is, I'm saying I don't know. To draw a level of hatred toward him seems rather far fetched when we are basing it only on his professional endeavors.

I suppose most dictators can be quite entertaining - Kim Jong Un with his comedy barnet, Hitler with his moustache and funny mannerisms, Mugabe, Mao, Stalin. You name them, they’re all funny guys if you ignore the bad stuff.

Well, I agree with the "you don't know" part -- you don't. You've not done enough homework.

Happy to look at evidence that depicts his compassion as a father or a "sound human being" outside his personal life.

Political. Professional. They are not the same as the personal aspect of his life. People behave differently across those 3 scenarios.
