COVID-19 — Coronavirus

I'm sick to bleeding death of people trying to make fraudulent claims in the welfare system. The numbers have increased and they have jumped on the bandwagon since the lockdown.
They are easy to spot for anyone with a trained eye, as they usually follow a similar pattern.
I want to effin scream when I have to waste my time on them.
Rant over.
Ah. You received my mother’s Funeral Payment claim then?

The stats lady seemed to indicate that 9 in 10 directly related COVID-19 deaths occured in hospital. We shall find out tomorrow from the ONS weekly deaths report I guess

I would think she, or someone high up in govt, would be able to access the stats before publication, or at least an indication.

That was correct on the ONS weekly stats up to w/ending 3rd April, as you say tomorrow's ONS stats will be interesting as it will include the current peak date for deaths, 8th April.

Haha...that's a "no." ;-)
Seriously though, I'm at the end of my tether dealing with a hard core tiny minority who waste everyone's time when there are genuine people who have never claimed before
As a first time UC claimant I've been quite impressed with the claim process so far, the phone interview was painless and I'm due to find out how much I get on Thursday.

If it's not much I may come back to you with a rant. ;-)

Glad to hear that it's been a smooth process for you. That's all any of the staff want.
If it's not enough then I'm sorry. Blame Boris etc ;-)
We have only 30 percent of staff in at our office at the moment, but we are trying to clear as many as possible.

Obviously it isn't good news but it's getting better daily.

It needs to be remembered these figures are from 2 weeks ago so it seems the peak has passed.

It's also worth noting that we still haven't tested 1% of the population in total since this all began.

BBC released 14 weeks' worth of lessons for kids today. So I suspect all those parents sick of their kids and praying for schools to reopen will be disappointed :)
