The fishing ban is driving me crazy. I never see a soul when I fish, in fact I avoid people. One of the types of fishing I enjoy involves walking the canal bank throwing a lure into likely looking spots. I do the exact same walk now every day but can’t take my rod. It’s infuriating. Fishing is also a big money sport which supports thousands and thousands of small businesses, whether they be tackle shops, bait companies, fishery owners, etc. They’ll be going bump one by one.
Your second sentence -are you the Manchester canal serial killer?

You missed his point. On the tube you're close to a limited number of people for a limited time (unless you walk up and down), and people will wear masks. In a busy pub it may be a constant churn of people, none wearing masks, and getting too pissed to be careful.

And you could always hire what used to be a Boris bike

I didn’t miss the point , the point was it’s not about what we do going forward but how we do it. Closing one thing down or event is not how we come out of lockdown its the way we behave.

so long as we social distance it does not matter where we are or what we do going forward. We all need to ensure we social distance whether golf, fishing tube train or pub , that’s what we were debating.

pubs and restaurants last to open is that worst than tubes, planes, trains , theatre or cinema . If people are crammed in.

I think whatever we do we have to hammer home the can you social distance ? if the answer is no then that’s the issue , avoiding the need to do lists of what events or things you can go to or not. That’s dangerous

We need to change the way we interact socially unfortunately and that’s the message that should be driven home when we come out of lockdown.

How long will it be before the economy overtakes health as a priority? Whilst I agree health is super important the long term effects of a broken economy could be just as damaging. A scenario of millions unemployed, more government cuts, poverty, mental health issues, crime etc will also be catastrophic. It’s a very difficult balancing act and one the government needs to get right.

Thanks for the clarification. But transport is effectively nationalised so losses will be subsidised.

Not many restaurants and pubs will be commercially viable if they have to keep customers 2 meters apart. No long tables with 20 people for a birthday party. Mary D's before a match?

They will be more commercially viable than no customers

and you think Mary Ds should be shut but the etihad open for games? Wow .

If the price of the Etihad being open is no pubs open beforehand, most City fans would take that. Drinking in pubs before a game is a minority pastime.

Did my Hour exercise today on my lunch break from work, busiest I have seen it for Weeks, people are ignoring and don't quite understand the severity of the situation, lets blame the Govt. and not the plebs who continue to flout the rules.

I’ve not seen anyone flouting the rules. What were these ppl doing exactly?

Makes no sense. If one is deemed safe enough to open, then the other should be as well. Personally, I'd be wary of entering football grounds and pubs until advice on social distancing is relaxed, and that is 12 months or more away. I'm guessing many others feel the same

Yeah, that's what my friend has been told.
Couldn't have come at a worse time for him, he's got bone cancer and they'd harvested all of his good cells ready for extensive chemo & have now postponed the chemo.
They've also postponed his Mother in Laws chemo, his Wife is splitting her time between her Husband and Mother and is terrified of catching & giving them this virus but not a lot else she can do.
He's in good spirits though, he told me to fuck off when i went to his house and sang happy birthday to him through a window
How horrible.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend.

I have spent several weeks now listening to the Downing St press briefings with the media banging on about their agenda, the same every day. Can someone explain why all the journalists are their papers/broadcasters Political ‘correspondents’. This is not a political issue, let’s have qualified questioners. Like them or not the Tories are the government, plenty of time afterwards to politicise this issue. I want proper questions asked like; after a month of lockdown how come we are still getting over 4,000 new cases every day? What are these people doing to catch it?

Made this point the other day. Why after weeks of lockdown, not just in the Uk, are thousands still being infected. Are they all people who are working normally across the world? Is it because asymptomatic people are passing it on? What’s going on?

be more fish for when you return though :)

The media keep repeating that if a vaccine is produced it will take months to mass produce it but this is not the case in respect of the mRNA vaccines.

These are the questions that I want asking not what's your exit strategy and how much PPE is needed. Yes ask those questions, get your answer and move on from where the press were 2 weeks ago. Get rid of the Political correspondents.

Totally agree.
After 4 weeks of lockdown, the virus is still spreading with a Reproduction Number (Rn) of pretty much one. How is this still occurring?
