He was on about "SIZE" again on Wednesday, saying that his was as big as M.L. King's. Size of the crowd at his 4th of July party compared to that for King's famous speech in 1963 he meant, same as how he bragged about the size of the crowd at his inauguration. Got to be a deep seated insecurity linked to his narcissism going on here and it will only be a small surprise if one day he accidentally mis-pronounces "election" by one letter.

Having said all that, the US has a per person covid death rate of 140/million and the UK has about 260, so much as I find watching these American presentations every night interesting, the UK is in really dire situation too, and relatively worse at the moment...

The white uneducated cohort are basically Trumps base. If they drop from +31 to +8 then he is screwed. You can bank on an uptick in Dem voter turnout and numbers across the board. Trump is 100% reliant on retaining the votes of the dumbass population. Inspiring them to turnout was what won it for him last time. Roll on November.

Yes he is fortunate to have the perfect dumbass population .Though personally think he may have had an accident before November. There must be plans in place to remove him. As his circle of support gets smaller, the chances of a "happening", Increase.
 
As hilarious as his daily updates are, there has to be someone or group behind the scenes that can see how dangerous he is ? It seems that he does surround himself with sycophantic people who dont question his actions and the majority of the American press dont seem to want to ask the difficult questions for fear of being ridiculed, or being left out of a briefing where they can get a soundbite headline . Someone in the Trump administration must have the vision to see where this could lead if he stays in power ?

There's a bit on the most recent More or Less podcast that casts doubt on comparing deaths per million.

I wasn't giving it my full attention but the theme seemed to be that even deaths per million, which are better than the current, widely differing cumulative deaths figures compared in most parts of the media, are not too much of a detailed barometer of success/failure.

I think they concluded that it'll be a while before conclusions can be drawn but too many factors (population density, travel frequency, age of population haven't been factored into any decent analysis yet. Saying that, they could have said something completely different as I was listening whilst trying to concentrate on something else at the same time.

Unless senior members of the GOP (McConnel, Graham, Grassley, etc.) seriously fear losing their seats, I don't think anything will change. We're not quite there yet, but it can't be too far off.
 
Under normal circumstances, we might expect to see a number of senior Republicans starting to distance themselves from the absolute sh*t show that is the Trump Administration. The fact that this is not the case leads me to believe that perhaps the fix is in, and Trump has somehow come up with a plan to engineer a situation where the November election does not happen.

Watch this space...

No, mate -- they are entirely eunuchs at the service of the emperor. They cannot contradict him, or clarify what he says. Secretly, some old school GOPers who have a shred of a conscience but are utter cowards are praying desperately for him to depart. They will actually vote for Joe Biden. Others, his coattail riders, outsiders and idiots, owe everything to him and will do his bidding in whatever way possible. Personally, as I've said before, Trump doesn't want this job -- he never did, he wants it even less now -- but more than that he doesn't want to lose because his entire grift is based on him being a "winner". What he wants to do is lose but then protest at the top his lungs that he actually won were it not for x, y and z. He'll sue, he'll foment revolt, he may severely damage the fabric of the Republic he cares so little about -- but if he loses in November, he WILL go in January. And he will anyhow, election or no -- he'd need to amend the Constitution to stay without being duly elected and that won't ever happen.
