The Labour Party

I'm not sure it's fair to call John Bercow a racist old ****, and he certainly held their feet to the flames on brexit. The tories are currently left holding a bomb in terms of this and Brexit, rather than heroics Starmer probably just needs to take cover and wait for it to explode. Unless the govt pull off some sort of minor economic miracle between now and next easter I think they are done. Once you strip a tory govt of the cloak of sound financial management you are not left with much else.

I know you’re joking but for the morons on here, there’s a lot, I was talking about Corbyn.

He needs to prove himself that he can hold them to account and not just that, giving them a free run in all of this will likely cost lives, with their mistakes.

"The cloak of sound financial management ".
I like that.
However it is a cloak that The Labour Party have never worn and probably never will.

Maybe not, but as they are not the ones in power it hardly matters. As we get further and further away from it the tory go to excuse of blaming any economic woes on the last labour govt becomes a bigger and bigger lie. They've been in power for over a decade and everything is shit - no doubt all blair and browns fault TFN.

Two weeks in and I'm not impressed.

Listening to Liz Kendall on BBC News using the spin and bullshit language of New Labour about PPE where she's saying nothing but trying to make it mean something. Were not in the 90s/00s anymore.

Covid 19 and The upcoming no deal Brexit need an opposition that's not going to cross it arms and tut and the government.

The reason the labour model that peopel like liz kendall default went stale was because it couldn't shift with the times, it was sound bites and non answers.

Yes going to comoletely a left wing position hasn't garnered results either.

But if they think becoming the party of post 2010 with no ideas or substance and being close to the government stances with slight tweeks if the path to
Go down, well then we are in for another deceade out of power.

It was frustration with that sort of bollocks that led to the hard left taking over. The leadership contest debates when corbyn won were a joke. They were all so shallow that corbyn genuinley looked like the statesman and certainly the only one with an idea or opinion of his own.

We now see Stamer's Labour in action with the backstabbing Reeves on Marr doing her best to impersonate a waxworks dummy.

She said nothing of note and didn't answer a question, she sounded just like a Tory.

As I said he has chosen some very bland MPs with nothing to offer but soundbites and cliches.

Reeves, Kendal, ashworth etc are just terrible

Kendal is a strange one. I found her to embody everything that is wrong with the Blair /Campbell 'spin' approach to politics, but when she took a step back and did that late night thing after question time I found her intelligent, honest and overall decent. She seems to lose herself and adopt a false persona when she gets her game-face on in the political arena. Burnham is similar although he seems to be a decent mayor.

Just a reminder that this Tory Government have borrowed more than all the previous labour governments put together (and we managed to right off all the debt owed to us by the third world at the same time)

Oh look at the select group whinging now, funny how they've turned, if it was Abbott being incompetent and getting stuff wrong or McDonnell's pathological lies they'd be gushing.

That's why I called it a 'cloak' of sound financial management. It's not real - the tories just shout about fiscal prudence and sound financial management, when actually they just mean being cunts to poor people.

Stop looking at the tories everyone, nothing to see here - look how stupid Dianne abbot is instead, and no matter what the govt do just be glad corbyn didn't get in because it would be worse!

I'd say it is worse than that.

They have cut the wages of NHS / key workers / front line staff systematically over the last 2 parliaments. They did it while continuing with the pension triple lock purely because of the headlines it would provoke in the right wing press. And they have dropped the tax rate for the highest earners and massively increased the wages of MPs.... There is nothing smart about this, its blatant self interest at the expense of the nations finances.

I don't have twatter, so I'm interested as to why this has been resurfaced and the centre tactics were shocking!

extract from above
"A Labour source said: “Despite fighting with one hand tied behind our backs by some uncooperative senior staff, we achieved the largest increase in the Labour vote since 1945. At the next election, we’ll have a fantastic and co-operative party machine to match our incredible mass membership and popular policies.”
