Thats clearly great news. Interesting this kind of news gets no reaction on here, but in the actual coronavirus thread the slightest bad news story gets jumped on and escalated. People are obsessed with bad news.

Dead right, MW.

The media look for the worst case scenario. Bad news = a news story. Preferably with a grim facial expression

Murcia has very few cases. Most were people from Madrid with second homes.
It is so dry there, a true med climate , almost a desert climate. I wonder if these conditions are the reasons for the very low mortality rate.
I have suffered with a chronic bronchitis since being a kid, but since having a place in Murcia for 20 years, it has gone. I did have it once about 8 years ago, 6 weeks, in Sept, Oct, inhalers, tablets wouldn't touch it. In the end I got a flight out there and it had gone in two days.

I am hoping the climate in Spain means they are over the worst for now.

Just on this, the Italian figures have stopped being reported on in the media as well. I haven't seen them mentioned for over a week now .

That's fair, and I'm guilty of that too, but I think it's because we all know deaths will go down if everyone hides from people - it was never in doubt... so as heartening as it is to see those numbers, at the same time it's not really surprising. People are looking for a sign that the most extreme measures in Spain aren't the only thing required to stop the spread, because that really is far from ideal. Still, as you said, it's great news. Really is.

Think this graph shows, despite varying degrees of lockdown, Italy, Spain, France, Uk, on similar trajectories and hopefully we follow them down too. I understand the argument we had warnings to maybe get ahead, but that’s a debate for after this. But maybe differences in lockdown measures don’t actually make huge differences to the curve, as long as you do some sort of lockdown.

yeh do agree a little.

don’t think there’s any need to post about the most horrific predictions or the odd individual case - as anyone can find that with the amount of click bait media sources flying about.

There is a "very definite trend" down in the number of people in hospital with coronavirus, the director of NHS England has said.

It comes as daily hospital death figures from COVID-19 hit a low not seen since 31 March.

NHS boss Stephen Powis told reporters at the Downing Street briefing: "We now have a very definite trend in a reduced number of people in hospitals.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said the lockdown measures would be relaxed from 4 May, with people being allowed to visit their relatives in small numbers.
Parks, factories and building sites will reopen.

My brother in law confirmed his factory will reopen on May 4th. He's been on a way tighter social distancing than us (200 metres from the house only and a 500 Euro charge if caught driving etc).

Which puts the round about where we are now. Building sites or open here, people do go to peoples houses etc. Which is why I find it pretty absurd when people start calling for U.K. ‘lockdown’ restrictions to be eased - we don’t really have that strict lockdown here

agree but for a vast majority, they've been sticking by the rules, None of my family have seen each other for weeks apart from leaving shopping on doorstep and saying hello from a distance - so as soon as the Government announce we can see family , that will be a very nice moment, until then we're sticking to the rules

They can announce all they like. I won’t be seeing my granny for a long time and won’t be going to busy pubs, football matches etc

Out of curiosity, do you think when the government says you can visit family, it'll be actually safe to do so?
