I understand that bud but it doesn't explain how they have kept the numbers so low, what are they doing so differently to everyone else to manage the death rate? Have they shielded their gen pop better or have they managed better outcomes in hospitals.

I think they've shielded their vulnerable better by testing people with milder symptoms and no symptoms before they've been able to spread it to the vulnerable.

I think Germany had 1 single advantage - lab capacity - when we were able to test a lot in a very early stage.

This advantage has gone now. In a 2nd wave like anybody else we would face many multi-local outbreaks which we won't be able to trace back and contain in that numbers, or at least it would take much longer and ICU capacities would be tested more severely. Is my guess.
I don't think their advantage has gone. The extensive medical testing industry still gives them a massive advantage. Germany can now manufacture 800,000 tests a day and are currently exporting 3/4 of it. Only the USA can best them and will only do so by mid May

Another 552 people have died in England's hospitals after contracting coronavirus - bringing the total to 19,301

70 more people have died with COVID-19 in Scotland - taking the total to 1,332

And 17 more people have passed away in Wales - putting the deal toll at 813

Confirmed from relevant ministers and the NHS england
Sad, but that is excellent news. I feared it could jump to 750 with the backlog from the weekend.

I know it’s not relevant to the thread , but the number of likes people have has now gone, but you can still like posts?

have I missed a memo?

Sorry, I could've been more specific. The Covid symptoms they've shown aren't being included on certificates. That's because they're not being tested and if there's no test there's no obligation to write it up. It goes down as viral pneumonia or something like that.
At last someone saying what I have been saying for weeks

Has anybody seen this talk by two US Doctors? Quite long (and I haven't gone through it all) but interesting all the same (and I don't think it's as conspiratorial as much of the alternative takes on the CV19 lockdown):

If they have COVID-19 symptoms, it goes on the certificate as a joint cause. The BMA and the Royal College of General Practitioners have been absolutely consistent on this from the off. Yes some will be missed that may be picked up in enhanced Non-COVID-19 pneumonia cases. But where they can diagnose COVID-19 it is being recorded as such.

my mates a GP and he said at the start of the crisis he was very quiet as it was all Covid focussed and he wasn’t really seeing patients just be telephones .

he said he will be really busy after Covid has left the front pages dealing with all the shit left behind , domestic violence , depression, suicides , delayed people going to the doctors etc.

The immune system point is really good point and something I have been thinking about. Those with kids will know as soon as your kid goes to school or nursery for the first time and exposes him to others he catches every cold and illness going ( as do you) .

That's what I thought and I've questioned it on that basis but I know for an absolute fact that it's not case everywhere.

I'm sorry I don't know if they are doctors in real life but the opening few minutes tell me they have no understanding of basic medical statistics.
I'm certainly not going to watch it all they are idiots.

Nope. Fudged the numbers.
