For the VWs there would be a 10% tariff applied on the way into the UK. There would also be additional costs and delays at the border due to new customs arrangements and costs related to compliance with our new British standards, so the upshot would be that a VW currently costing £20k would cost maybe £26k to the consumer. Of course the UK could unilaterally waive the tariff which would bring the price down somewhat but there would be no guarantee that Europe would reciprocate for our exports because there would be no deal.
For chickens there would be a tariff of €21.60 for every 100kg of chickens so the cost to Tesco for 250,000 chickens would be about £100k more plus additional shipping costs which would be recouped from the consumer. They would also have a shorter sell by as they would take longer to get here.
