Deal agreed with Bayern Munich for Leroy Sane - €60m (including add-ons)

I think we should just offer his services to anyone who wants him at this point... start a bidding war. Why not? Worst case scenario, Bayern win the bidding war but end up paying way more than they were planning on. Best case, he doesn't go to Bayern.

1 season without Sane and we are +20 points behind Liverpool.

I know he is not the ONLY reason, but one of main factors.

Keep him, and then let him go wherever he wants.

It will send a strong message to the rest of the squad to respect their contracts.

Where did the 50m valuation come from? Bayern are trying to get him for 35 aren't they? They've been tapping him up for 2 years.

Switch roles. If we were doing it to one if theirs what would happen?
If we switch roles, we get banned for tapping up, but the Germans have different rules, as for price so far it is just media talk, there is a chance Bayern will back of Sane until the effects of Covid 19 are exposed, a lot of clubs will be looking at their wage budgets even us.

Point taken but do you honestly believe Leroy gives everything he's got all the time?
No worries ;)

Don't get me wrong Sane's no Pablo Zabaleta but I don't think he's as lazy as some are trying to make out either, not by any stretch of the imagination. He loses concentration in games and switches off at times most definitely but it's a very tactically disciplined position and he's naturally a free spirited player, as was Thierry Henry, who also found it very difficult to stick to Guardiola's strict tactics of hugging the touchline, so I understand it with a young player like Sane, especially when he's not getting much of the ball.

Defensively, again he switches off at times and I'd like a bit more but you don't know how much of that is tactical as we've also seen Sterling very clearly staying high up the pitch as well and nobody can criticise Sterling's work ethic. I think in general Sane's pressing and cover pressing is good, not Gabriel Jesus good, but still good most of the time too although again I'd like a bit more aggression but I'd also want David Silva flying into tackles like Michael Brown if I was manager (Guardiola & Neil Warnock hybrid).

The only outfield player that wasnt a centre half that ran less than him was sergio

Bernardo Silva is a machine

Or, why don't we do what's in the best interest of Manchester City and use the money we get for him to go buy a new player and make ourselves better on the pitch? That's how you show strength, not by throwing away a 50m asset for nothing, worsening our FFP position for no reason, and ruining our reputation for how we treat players just so we can spite Bayern.

Who do you want to buy with the €35m that Bayern are planning to rinse us with? No one drops their valuation for us, even in a pandemic. This is about getting a fair price. If Bayern and Sane think they can have their way with us, they can fuck right off.

Worsening our FFP? UEFA loosened their rule to allow Liverpool, United, PSG, Barca, Real, Bayern and Juve to still spend. As far as I am aware that means we are free from the burden it puts on us.

If Leroy wants to join Bayern let him go. There is no way that Bayern can afford to pay him the same wage that he will get from us. So he must be willing to except a substantial wage cut, so that he can play for his beloved Bayern. Now if he really thinks that he will be playing week in and week out he will be in for a nasty shock, because that will not be happening. The odd German football that I watch, not even Robert Lewandowski plays every game for Bayern.

You're so angry at the situation you're not reading what other posters have said, you're reading what you want to read.

No one has mentioned £35m, it's an opening bid, just like ours was when we were buying Sterling from Liverpool. We're clearly not going to accept an opening bid, so chill out relax and take a breather.

As for "worsening our FFP", well that's pretty obvious what @cjn meant. He meant if we don't accept an offer at some stage, we lose; the transfer fee money, Sane's wages, a potential loyalty bonus. So that's less money to spend on a replacement because FFP still exists even if the restrictions ahve been loosened to help the cartel teams, so we still have to adhere to the rules, even if we don't like them and it's a bent as fuck protectionist cartel.

Proper pushover mentality lol let them take KDB and Sterling for £30m each next when they decide to have a strop and let the whole world know that we are ready to get fucked by teams like Bayern for big deals

You would know all about a pushover mentality, as someone who avoids positive posts/questions from people with a different viewpoint and then jumps in to attack on the back of someone elses post with a similar viewpoint.

I don’t see the need to be patronising. Bayern are quoted to be confident with pushing through a deal below €50m and are aiming for €35m. If our ceiling is the €50m we are still in deep trouble because it is virtually useless in getting a new player when we are going to get valuations in the region of €100m for every top quality attacker. Maybe we reinvest that in a CB but the point still stands that clubs are not going to play nice with us. Want Koulibaly? Napoli will stand by their world record valuation.

I am all for selling him, but we need to stick a take it or leave it price at £70m, which is already half of his valuation. We are already in a losing position with Sane and going down on our knees to please Bayern is the worst option on the table. As previously been pointed out we have the power to force Sane into release clause of £100m extension if Bayern don’t bite (as he can not afford to miss out another season of football). This has been done so many times and is just poor management from us if end up caving in.

I hate United but they weren’t bullied around by other clubs with Ronaldo.

Simple finances are we better off with £50 miilion to reinvest or nothing ? FFP will already be a struggle because of covid, the market will be deflated because of covid. Fantasy transfer windows are over for now, there is a new reality out there. Carry on ignoring reality if it helps though.

There was only one club that seriously bid for Ronaldo and he ended up there.
I thought taggart said he wouldn't sell that lot(Real Madrid) a virus? Soon changed his mind.

That’s about as tenuous a link as they come but if it helps you feel better then I’ll let you have it. My point stands just as much re the other replies but ultimately it’s a complete difference of mentality and isn’t worth discussing much further; apparently some people don’t mind watching us have our trousers taken down over a transfer.

Nobody has advocated taking a silly offer, we stand by our valuation but what you believe to be an acceptable valuation and what is realistic in the current market I feel are two very different propositions. This I feel is backed up by people like Dayot Upamecano's agent who has stated he feels big transfers won't happen this summer and that's with a very highly thought of player with a relatively low release clause of £50m pre-corona.

If you genuinely believe we could or even should try to force a player into signing a new contract extension then that tells me all I need to know about you, whatever you think he's done, that's pretty fucking disgusting.

FFP will likely be abandoned or significantly modified as a result. Carry on ignoring reality if it helps though.
