You utter plank!
It isn’t the risk to children that is the problem, it’s the fact that they can get infected as easily as adults, as the ONS study has found, don’t get ill, but are vectors for passing it round and killing obese parents, diabetic neighbours and grandparents.
Hence the need to keep the elderly or people with morbidity to stay the hell away. By the way the need to preface your reply with an insult only signals you of having a low IQ so........

the media bashing is a bit tedious, seen as they are as divided as the nation is, some are pro Boris, others are anti Boris, some are anti lockdown, others are pro lockdown and some are balanced. it will always be this way, to keep carpet blanking them all the same is pointless.

I Don’t agree .

politics and the media have become tribal just like football.

you pick a side and you stick with “your team” and hurl abuse at the opposing fans.

the media used to report the news stories now they try and create the news stories.

its shite.

Wouldn't be surprised if there are special editions of the Daily Mail soon with white feathers in; to be sent to the stay at home teacher of your choice. It's certainly where the language of that headline is heading. Stupid gits.

The media creates that divide. That’s their objective. Papers like The Daily Mail and The Sun are feeding poison into our society. There’s nothing tedious about standing against that.

“Some papers are against Hiter, some are for him. It’s just the way the world is. Bashing the Mail for this is tedious.”

See how this retort doesn’t quite hold up?

You think so?
I don’t like Govt by presidential clique.
This isn't the politics thread so I'll keep it brief. But I would have preferred a tight all-party coalition (War cabinet) to tackle this crisis. The pantomime antics in the House of Commons produce little value in my view. In fact they are often just an embarrassment to the whole country.

When a grammar nazi pipes up you know you've won the argument.. The fatality risk to children was recently reported as 0.0007% . Its over 75's when that risk rises to around 1 in 15 of those infected. 70,000 are seriously injured each year on our roads but we don't stop driving.

Where to start? I'd recommend the ONS, but if that proves too tricky read @denislawsbackheel post.
And it's "Nazi" with a capital letter (you do make it easy).

why not start at the ons data analysis for April I posted the link a short while ago.
Does that link provide details about how the disease was transmitted or does it simply tell us that older people are more likely to die, something that's been pretty well established since the beginning of the pandemic?

well yes if you're pointing at the daily mail and the sun but there is plenty of well balanced news out there

Godwin likes this post.

which ones

well whatever I say you’ll disagree.

personally I find The Times, FT and Independent, the economist, Reuters pretty balanced.

broadcast wise the BBC; seen as every right wing hothead labels the BBC as ‘leftwing biased’ and every left wing hothead says ‘it’s right wing government funded’!

There's plenty of good journalism still about. The issue with a lot of the papers are they mix up editorial opinion and news more than ever, that doesn't stop there being others that don't though. There is at least some recourse for it though, unlike most of the internet.
