No criminal enquiry.
He's lucky that the mayoral code of conduct was so wishy-washy on the Nolan principles compared to most local authorities' code.

the mayor’s office had their own inquiry IIRC that went on hold pending the criminal investigation. Now that is over the mayor is free to pursue it further. Whether now is the time is another question.

Well, there's obviously a case to answer under the code of conduct.

INTEGRITY Holders of public office should not place themselves under any financial or other obligation to outside individuals or organisations that might seek to influence them in the performance of their official duties.

OBJECTIVITY In carrying out public business, including making public appointments, awarding contracts, or recommending individuals for rewards and benefits, holders of public office should make choices on merit.

CHASINGTOTTY Of course none of the above should prevent the holder of a public office from spaffing public funds in pursuit of a decent bit of skirt for the purposes of playing hide the sausage. Woof woof.

I wonder if he is losing the right wing press? Useless in PMQ's.....beyond that largely invisible ....2 x U-turns on flagship immigration policy in a day ( policy dear t the Mail and its readers hearts ) .... maybe they are setting him up for a fall - small undermining now but see how it goes in recess and if even with the baying mob he struggles when Parliament returns they may, by that stage, have already eyed up a successor to get behind. Maybe Gove? End of June, No Deal , WTO and he could be the chosen one...

They certainly have enough to bury him and suspect that the reason they didn't before was that corbyn was threatening to break up UK media ownership if he got in. If Murdoch thinks Starmer is a man he can work with like Blair, then BJ's time may be up.

The U-turn on the flagship immigration policy certainly has upset the troops
