Bob has always been a hero of mine since the days of shooting stars

Love the athletico mince podcast and the liveshow they did Just before the lockdown at the comedy club was very good!

Can’t beat his Neil Hunt the nonsense potter on the podcasts though.

Jim is concentrating on his art these days. As a double act they were very innovative, but I believe meeting bob was the catalyst for vic, he needed bob to flourish and create.
Vic can't do the solo stuff that bob pulls off, like every good comic, he lives in a world of his own, effortlessly switching between reality and fantasy, with the line very much obscured. As someone said, he is like a fine wine, just gets better with age.
He's obviously not a stand up comedian, but there's no one better at painting a picture, drawing you in, and ultimately coming out with something daft along the way.
The man is a quiet genius in my humble opinion.
Gangs of the epl is brilliant.
Neil hunt nonsense Potter.
Scottish tales.
Even the fishing thing he did with Whitehouse is great telly.
Sorry for the love in.
Thank yoooou

The fishing show he did with Paul Whitehouse was really good....different than his usual comedy, quite heart warming. Think Whitehouse came out a bit of a knob, but Bob Mortimer is incredibly likeable.

Jesus christ thank you for pointing out Athletico Mince. Nearly crashed my van driving to Norwich listening to these.
His impression of Peter Beardsley with his misses is brilliant.
I was stood in a long queue waiting to get into Asda today so got the earphones out listening to this podcast. I had to turn it off, I was laughing uncontrollably at the Martin from homes under the hammer interviewing Roy Hodgson CLASS!! Love his Nigel Pearson impression "Yuu want ta fiight"

I'll be honest the first few podcasts of athletico mince were poor in comparison to what they are now. It took a dozen or so before bob steered it in the direction he wanted to go. If you go back and listen to them again (yes I'm that sad I've done it) it's actually a delight to see him develop the characters as it went along.
The alderman started out as one throw away comment. Bob then built up a whole world around him, charity does, kissing him etc.
Early Beardsley sounded totally different than it does now. He even invented a voice for his wife.
Same with African tales. The first one was sketchy, but bob applied his brilliance and made it genius.
Hodgeson warrrammur
Steve and casper and the fat lass.
Mick mcarthy ya bastads.
Bobs Sunderland songs, the fun bus lol.
Some of the gangs of the epl is amongst the best audio comedy ever made, the accents, the traits of the players, harry kanes chin, don't pass to vardy, sterling admitted to great Ormand street, zlatins bumhole, Phil Jones yes please. Just fantastic fun. I bet not one player has been offended, in fact they want to be in it.
If you haven't listened before go back to the beginning you won't regret it it's fucking brilliant escapism

I'm not sure why you think he came out as a bit of a knob? I think maybe paul being the fisherman he did perhaps take it a little bit too seriously at times, but he did have bob dicking about for the most part lol.
I thought it was perfect telly, bob is painfully shy in real life, I imagine this was difficult for him to film. Especially as he clearly knows fuck all about fishing.
Paul used to join in on stage when vic and bob first started out. No vic and bob - no fast show. That's why paul secretly loves bob, and bob knows it but is too humble and self depriciating to aknowlege it.

To be honest mate I'd start at the beginning, it gets going properly after half a dozen or so and there only half an hour ish.
It's great hearing it develop into what it is now.
If you like off the wall comedy you're in for a treat.
Enjoy

Sweet, cheers

Got a terrible feeling Andy Dawson has fucked it for the Athletico Mince podcasts. He’s the (unfunny) other half of the show but he’s been ranting on Twitter all day and then tweeted Gove’s wife that Gove is a **** and he’d love to kick him in the balls in front of his children. Absolute bellend behavior.

Unfortunately, he’s also the other half of another podcast I like with Sam Delaney Top Flight Time Machine. Delaney is brilliant but this may well be ruined too now.
