I think that's fake news. The working group would be looking at "unfair or deceptive acts or practices" by online platforms, e.g. how online platforms collect and use that sort of information.

The whole section:

. 5. State Review of Unfair or Deceptive Acts or Practices and Anti-Discrimination Laws. (a) The Attorney General shall establish a working group regarding the potential enforcement of State statutes that prohibit online platforms from engaging in unfair or deceptive acts or practices. The working group shall also develop model legislation for consideration by legislatures in States where existing statutes do not protect Americans from such unfair and deceptive acts and practices. The working group shall invite State Attorneys General for discussion and consultation, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law.

(b) Complaints described in section 4(b) of this order will be shared with the working group, consistent with applicable law. The working group shall also collect publicly available information regarding the following:

(i) increased scrutiny of users based on the other users they choose to follow, or their interactions with other users;

(ii) algorithms to suppress content or users based on indications of political alignment or viewpoint;

(iii) differential policies allowing for otherwise impermissible behavior, when committed by accounts associated with the Chinese Communist Party or other anti-democratic associations or governments;

(iv) reliance on third-party entities, including contractors, media organizations, and individuals, with indicia of bias to review content; and

(v) acts that limit the ability of users with particular viewpoints to earn money on the platform compared with other users similarly situated.

The whole Order (like a legalese rant) seems not to be ordering much except trying to get the law changed, and telling federal departments to withdraw advertising from online platforms.

I suppose his followers will hide behind the fact the white nationalists with guns didnt riot, but then again he had no support for the black protests in the first 2 days when they were peaceful either.

Starting to get good this. The idiot scored an own goal and bit the hand that fed him and now they’re pushing back. Probably have overweight white nationals with assault rifles stood outside Twitter HQ by the end of the day.

Incitement to violence is a step too far. Twitter have finally woken up and realised just how dangerous Trump actually is when he says sh*t like this.

The USA is a tinder box right now. If overweight white nationals with assault rifles stood outside Twitter HQ by the end of the day is what it is going to take to make the GOP sit up and realise they have a mad man at their helm then so be it.

The dumbest thing is he's just signed an executive order that limits legal protections on social media.

He's the biggest beneficiary of those legal protections, as without them, Twitter will have to remove all of his lies and threats.

Does his XO actually do anything? It can't change the law in any way, so apart from directing his pet AG to dream something up (and providing funding to do so), what did it actually do?
