If it was about playing time why didn’t he sign a new context before last season? Bayern been nibbling at him since ha came here!

Why on earth would he, if he was unsure he'd get playing time? The two are logically mutually exclusive.

Yep now can understand but back when we offered him a contract he had played most games we offered a contract that over doubled his wages! So hey back then did he not sign?

The contract was offered in summer 2018, he was a regular at that time.

I feel it's more likely that he lost his starting berth because of his failure to commit.

I personally think his ommision from Germany's World Cup squad that summer was the catalyst in Bayern turning his head.

We should've cashed in early last summer.

Valiant attempt to get the thread back on topic ;-)

1. A Leroy Sane who wants to be here for the foreseeable would be fabulous ( akin to having a £100m+ player if he signed a new contract and would save us a lot of money in the market to find someone comparable, which is almost impossible). I think he wants the move for whatever reasons so we probably now need to make the best of a bad situation.

From info on here he’s currently on £75k, we offered £150k or thereabouts but he is seeking far more to be aligned with the highest earners.

Is he worth half a Sterling? My feeling is that if he signed a new contract when first offered it and he had a season or two playing at a consistently high level then the club would have rewarded that mid contract. Post injury he and the German rags have the advantage unless we take the hit (I don’t think we will do that).

We are well run, the club in the main bid or offer what we believe is fair value for a player or contract, the alternative is the Sanchez/De Gea/Pogba road to ruin.

2. Until Leroy divulges his thoughts we won’t know. Playing for “the biggest team in Germany” / a huge pay packet / bringing up his child in his homeland / “Pep wants me to track back too much” might all be factors.

We don’t lose many players but it will be a real shame to lose a great player to those cnuts.

i don't really know the contract sane was on or the offer city made with a new deal ? but i do know munich are taking the piss in all of this. but did city under value him with a new offer ?? what would a replacement cost ? does pep really believe in him ?

for me sane is world class on his day and before the injury was a major part of the team but pep always had a touch line meltdowns about sane. and you could see only one winner at the club. yes sane is young and at times gets lost in the game and needed work on becoming a team player
so again did city under value him with that new offer or was it a plan that was trying to make sane understand work needs to be done on his game first

market value for a young world class players is now at the starting at levels of £100 million and that is for a raw talent ? sane is a bit ahead and along the production line of the starting price ? won titles and cups and not just a squad player so my market value would be £150 million and that would be cheap before the injury ? what munich seen was a chance to unsettle him because of the world cup squad he was dropped from and trying to get him on the cheap and with a big wage offer

lets say city sell sane to munich and then go back for sancho ? what would the asking price be ? yep that's right you would be looking at near the £200 million mark. ok city have a buy back clause and would be around 25% cheaper. but this is the level sane should be at if a club is wanting a players of sane talent

There was no buy back clause for Sancho was there?

One question should be, is Pep staying? If the two don’t get on but Pep is leaving, why not offer Sane a better deal, otherwise next season both could be gone and we are left looking pretty stupid, of course if Pep is staying then there is only one winner.

Money is obviously important but i don't think it's the ONLY reason he's not signing a new contract. I believe he's looking for guarantees or assurances he will start and be one of the main guys, like Sterling is. Even when Sterling is in poor form, which he has been for a few games now, you never see his head drop or him not doing what he's obviously been asked to do. When the going is good for Sane you see him track back, you see him disposses opposition players and setup counters, you see him going past people and setting up or scoring. When its not going good for him you see him allowing runners past him, losing the ball and not getting back in position, playing for himself, all things that clearly infuriate Pep. We obviously want to keep him, i'm sure Pep realises his potential and still backs himself to get it out of him, but it's all on the desire from the player. If he doesn't want to put in the effort and would rather try his luck elsewhere, then there's fuck all we can do.

If Sane is desperate to live back in Germany then let him go with our good wishes. If however that is not the case then do what ever to keep him.

If you read my post i do say "It does have consequences for the whole wage structure of a club, so it is not the best thing to do."
I was just giving a scenario (to those saying Bayern have the all power) where if we really wanted to keep him we probably could.

Yes I did read your post but probably did not explain fully my point.

I was more thinking of the point other players would probably see that as an option for themselves and so other players would start to run contracts down also, forcing the clubs hand on negotiations. This is in addition to the natural cycle of wage inflation when players starting wanting parity etc.

I said it months ago and I'll repeat. I don't wish to offend anyone but the reality is that he doesn't give a fuck about CITY. Even though we have given him everything, been respectful and treated him like one of rge family.

Repaid by silence, runnng the clock down and talking innapropriately to them tossers from Bavaria.

Its a shame because he could have been great but i for one think hes an ungrateful twat and has a touch of sturridge about him.

i think there was and a 25% sell on ?? but they will be asked daft money and close to £150 million if city come knocking

funny thing is sancho been quoted at going to united for £90 million hahahaha and this is why our club gets fucked over in the transfer market and then we get blamed for the market being inflated because of city money ?? sorry but its the selling clubs that make the market what it is

I personally believe that was the entire plan all along.

Let's not kid ourselves, none of them bar Foden really give a shit about City. They are here for sporting gain and to be looked after. We have given him those things but he wants more, he wants to be one of the main guys and who can blame him? But does he deserve to be? Maybe if he can improve his attitude, its 100% an issue and it was proven when Germany (wrongly) didn't take him to the world cup.

According to some reports, we can match the offer and if he is sold on we get a percentage of the sale. No buy back, as you say.

??? if that is the case its daft and they could ask for £200million or say we have had a offer of £200million and then a percentage lets say 25% so city would have to pay £150million for a player we let go for peanuts ???

Perhaps it was (his omission).

How could we possibly have cashed in on him last summer. Bayern were only going to offer half his actual value, and nobody else formally came forward.

Reports last summer were suggesting Bayern were preparing a £70million offer.
