People keep saying this but I very much doubt it's true. The little I've heard suggests that a faction within UEFA insisted on a 2-year ban, with no ifs, buts or maybes. It wasn't a case of hitting us with 2 years so we'd accept 1 year. And why would we accept a 1-year ban when we wouldn't even accept just a fine?

I've said all along it's all or nothing, which taking my powers of prediction into account, probably means we'll end up with a one-year ban.

That 2 year ban agenda seemed to come from members of the G14 so it’ll be interesting if there’s any emails within UEFA that demonstrates an agenda to punish us that was orchestrated outside the AC because that again would seriously undermine UEFAs process. The fact that we were facing a ban was briefed out at the same time as the charges were brought - so the agenda of a witch-hunt may have some credibility - moreover, Ceferin clearly had knowledge of the punishment we were facing - despite his alleged independence.

It actually says the alleged leaks are worrisome, (which is not quite the same as saying the allegations are worrisome) and goes on to say City’s complaints about the leaks do not appear to be entirely without merit.

The next paragraph says the panel is “puzzled” by the Chief Investigators rejection of City’s allegations.

That part of the judgement does not read well for UEFA.

That's the finesse that this type of tving involves.

Agree, doesnt read well, but that for me is a bout it. We are keen to attach a lot more to it than there probably is.

Tbh the news I see makes me think the g14 are going for the whole lot... Qatar wc, Man City, PSG. All thrown in together as dirty cheating Arabs, its the narrative I think they're creating from what I have seen.

I think quite a few inside UEFA took ‘financial sweetness’ to vote for the Qatar WC bid - hence why they maybe backed off PSG the way they did. Don’t rule out Qatar and PSG being the instigators and or major players in the campaign against us.

2 years is the standard, as i understand from all orevious cases. Some get it reduced to 1 on appeal based on proportionality of punishment. But once they 'found' us guilty, it was always going to be 2 years.

Agree though, all or nothing now it would seem

Not sure 2 years is the norm at all. Pretty certain I’ve seen a few 1 year bans handed out. I recall AC Milan getting a 2 year ban (overturned on appeal). It just seems to vary from case to case.

Simply put, this is a case initiated by UEFA, prosecuted by UEFA and judged by UEFA. With this prejudicial process now over, the Club will pursue an impartial judgment as quickly as possible and will therefore, in the first instance, commence proceedings with the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the earliest opportunity.

This is why I said earlier that City will take this as far as they can and for as long as it takes.

Rest assured - THEY WILL NOT BACKTRACK ONE INCH.

Combined with an investigation that had a window of what was it 48 hours - so even if we’d delivered a truck of evidence the IC simply did not have time to consider it. The AC whilst it can call for. Ore information is not the forum to gather evidence but consider it. There’s no getting away from the fact that there were flaws in UEFAs process and a proper independent consideration of the facts maybe enough to see us prevail but on top of that I’d hope we have some evidence to fully explain the leaked emails.

"So, in termes of the non-cooperation, what didn't we cooperate with?
Well, we did cooperate with this process. We delivered a long list of documents in support of what we believe is irrefutable evidence that the claims are not true."

Possibly the most risible thing about coverage like this is that it comes at time when the United States is on its arse because of a culture of unaccountable lying from people in positions of power.

It staggers me that Panja is such a **** that even though it has been pointed out time and time again to him the difference between the two cases he hasn't bothered to correct himself. He is of course happy to reply to his arse licking colleagues who are rimming him for his hot take.

Shows once again that the New York Times football writing is being driven by a xenophobic agenda against Arab ownership.

I’ve just told that thick twat Tariq Panja that this is with CAS now so is he implying that City are going to buy CAS off? Told him if I was him, I’d retract it, otherwise he might need very deep pockets ;)

This is the decision to reject our first appeal to CAS

https://www.tas-cas.org/fileadmin/user_upload/Award_CAS_6298_internet.pdf

There’s plenty of encouragement in the rejection, particularly on page 31
Yes re-reading those comments from CAS is re-assuring. Given they had to be cautious not to prejudice their own proceedings they could hardly have been more scathing. They don't name Leterme but they clearly point the finger at him. The CAS judges are smart people and will know full well what is happening internally at UEFA (ie the battle between the pro-Qatar and the Ceferin factions) They will only make decisions based on the legal arguments but anyone who has spent any time in any legal proceeding knows that politics always plays a part. At this point I trust CAS to make an honest decision.

No - but if we are found guilty at CAS of having misled UEFA to gain entry to European competition, there is a specific PL rule on that - which would, I suggest, be the angle of attack they'd take.

This would also open the potential for specific clubs who may have missed out on Qualification due to our 'dishonesty' hitting us with their own separate litigation.

If CAS clearly state we're guilty of deliberately misleading UEFA, it could get very messy for us.

We have to win here.

its a dodgy way of doing things and if the premier league also want a fight then city are big enough to take them on now

as for the need to win this ? you could also say if uefa lose its over for them

I could of course be wrong.

I've only seen 2 year bans for ffp breaches. reduced to 1 on appeal, or overturned.

It certainly isn't unprecedented either way.

I can't see them moving an inch either, but since it's Uefa, it will probably be reduced to a year. If they are going to go by the letter if their law, then City need to call for every club who are also in the same situation are treated likewise. Because they aren't. Our SFA have allowed Rangers to spend money even though they have made a loss for the last four years. How does that get overlooked?

Swales would have sorted this years ago (by ensuring we remained utterly shite and never entered anything other than the Full Members' Cup - the only fucking thing that cup lacked was, naturally, members).

Think AC's was reduced to a year. Which in fact, worked out very nicely as it meant they didn't have to fuck about in the Europa Cup, for which they had duly qualified.

I agree..this goes deeper than just football and probably something to do with American wealth trying to stop the ever growing world wide investment being made by the middle east, and then you can throw in enemies like Qatar who want to stop it as well

Rumours are they offered to cut a deal with a 1 year ban.
We said no , so they doubled it thinking maybe it would be reduced to a year and everyone’s a winner.

No fucking chance , the Bent Bastards.

I'd disagree on your last point - it's not over for UEFA at all.

Ceferin has been extremely vocal in distancing himself - and the main body of UEFA - from the decisions taken by the IC. As have City too, as it happens - both Khaldoon and Soriano have been at pains to portray this as an organised campaign from a faction within UEFA, rather than the organisation itself. In which we have a number of 'friends'.

That makes it very easy for UEFA to throw a couple of specific individuals under the bus - Leterme undoubtedly being one of them - and carry on unscathed. And City's position suggests they'd be entirely happy with that outcome, and wouldn't be looking to take it any further. They don't want to take UEFA down.

So - to modify what you've said - if they lose, it's over for certain individuals in UEFA. Which would be great for us - a less openly hostile UEFA will make our growth strategy a lot more straightforward, at the very least.

And they got to spend, strengthen their team and balance their books going into thd next 3 year period
