I'm not so sure Floyds past does matter tbh, but to create a fake version of him to fit a narrative seems odd. I think his legacy will be that he was just a very ordinary unremarkable bloke and not a Martin Luther or Malcolm X. Floyds past absolutely does not matter if it is used to cheapen what happened to him. Pretty much every time someone dies we paint them in rose coloured glasses. I get that people can be frustrated with a perceived imbalance and the martyring of people who aren't saints but it can quickly create a false narrative in some minds.
