George Floyd murder | Clashes between US police and protestors

Truth be told, you have more sympathy with those who caused trouble last week than those who have caused trouble this week because those involved last week more closely reflect your view point.

Me, I think those involved in trouble last week are complete & utter wankers and those involved this week are complete & utter wankers. I draw no distinction between the two groups.

I don't much give a shit about the proportion of those who were protesting who caused trouble. What we have here is a small number of people on both sides who are just wankers.
Really well said - sensible and balanced people should abhor both groups

Clearly there are less balanced people that find excuses for last weeks wankers because they are sympathetic to their views

For me the utter disregard for the social-distancing requirements and therefore contempt for the lives of others is another despicable aspect - people simply considering that their need to voice their views is more important than the safety of others

It's really embarrassing for football that the songs and chants of a far right Tommy Robinson crowd are identical to those you'd hear at Wembley.

Don't you just hate those people who are more sympathetic to people protesting for racial equality than people defending already protected statues from a protest that had been cancelled?

I saw very few people “find excuses for last weeks wankers”, tbf. Most seemed universal in their criticism of those who attacked the police. Certainly seeing a few people who are very eager to lump in two entirely separate and different events today though.

It's really embarrassing too for society that the people vandalising property, attacking police, and endangering the rest of society through not social distancing last week are the same who claim to want equality, clapped NHS workers and bemoan the government's lack of action on protecting the vulnerable and BAME groups from Covid.

Last week there were supposed Blues having a go at Ian Cheeseman for suggesting that gathering in a crowd line that wasn't good.

One absolute ****, who was probably about 21 (which was probably more than the number of brain cells he had) reckoned it was more important to protest against racism that to observe social distancing rules. Particularly when the BAME community have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
It is the disregard for the social-distancing rules and therefore willingness to endanger the lives of other people that fucks me off

Utterly self-entitled behaviour

Most “top” blues during the days it used to go off were black lads weren’t they?

The Cool Cats, they helped ANTIFA rid the top of Market Street of the NF , who used to give out their racist propaganda outside the Wimpey.

Their are accounts of it in a number of books I have read. Whether the accounts are embellished or not I don't know, I wasn't there.

The election in December has fried your brain.

“Both sides” means the extreme.

I am not on about peaceful protesters, who are social distancing.

You can't say both sides of the scratching post though and you can't even specify that the far left is as bad as the far right, if you don't take one of the others side then you're either a facsist Nazi or a Commie Anarchist, you have to fit into one of the two camps.

The message is that thuggery is accepted from whatever side your narrative fits, your fight is the good one, you are fighting evil and out there to do good.

Some info coming out that a protester was stabed at waterloo.

The police and ambulance service have said this didn't happen and it is a false story.

Just if anyone reads it and thinks it happened.

With the greatest respect, that’s absolute bollocks. You’re conflating separate things here.

I don't believe I am bud not at all, I was disgusted with the violence last week and I am utterly disgusted with the violence that happened today. That's not conflating that's consistency. Now I am no pacifist by any stretch of the imagination but this subservience to a cause be it left or right today is a cancer in our society.
