I didn't know this and sure there are many others who don't. It wasn't too long ago celebs were outed for tax avoidance yet this is probably one of the biggest cases not widely publicised.I am sure it is probably legal but immoral. I am sure Dan Roan/Harris etc will take it up.
These taxes alone would probably pay 10 times over for school meals over the summer

You also have to ask why there are so many different companies. I grew up with Manchester United FC as my local rival team. It was one identity.

Do they in fact pay any UK tax for anything ? Is anyone going to ask them via newspaper or online media ?
Can you imagine the UK taxman trying to find his way through that lot to get an answer as to why 50 million of gate receipts doesn't incur any UK tax. (They may do but you get my point)

Football is big business: the turnover in the Prem is absolutely vast. Way more than the old days of the 1st Division in the 60's and early 70's. In a sense, the Premier League is now like Hollywood, doesn't matter if the films nowadays are piles of CGI crap, as long as they bring the money in the suits are happy. The same with both the rags and the dippers, treated by the media and football's governing bodies as beyond reproach, above criticism.
If the rags are screwing the tax system, sweep it all under the Axminster and turn the other way. If the dippers want to hack into another club's computer system, well, that's okay - keep quiet and it will all blow over eventually.

And until someone in a position of power sets up an independent body to look into the affairs of football in this country, the two red clubs will continue to fuck everybody else over in the pursuit of more money.

It was set up following allegations of corruption in football ownership, bung culture etc, and concern over debts and clubs going bust. But like all these inquiries most of its sensible recommendations have been ignored or watered down. This country's way of tackling corruption in all walks of life such as football, the banking sector, politics, the media, etc etc....is just to brush it under the carpet.

Excellent post. The internet quote about tax avoidance is interesting. Tax avoidance is legal and can be done through taxation experts on the payroll in the US and/or the UK. There is no reason why any law abiding person or organisation would have a confidential account in the ultra secretive Cayman Islands' banking system for legal tax avoidance. The whole purpose of having one is to facilitate illegal tax evasion and money laundering. That's the simple reason why the Mafia and international criminals also have bank accounts in the Cayman Islands.

Then came an item about the football starting again and after a short intro she began a remote interview with a bloke described as a football super fan. Pretty much straightaway she mention in reverential abd almost hushed tones that he was a fan of 'Man.....Yewwww'. It sounded comical but soon they started talked harmless bollocks about how much he had missed football and she asked what he thought of the fan photos and canned crowd noise. He replied something like it wasn't the same as the real thing but it would help.
Finally she asked where he would watch United's first match. He replied because of the time he and most others would not be able to watch in bars as usual so he would watch at home.
I should mention at this point that the superfan talking of atmosphere in grounds was in Bangkok. YCNMIU.
I was wondering why the BBC were showing this ridiculous interview with a pleasant presenter and an amiable idiot superfan when the Breakfast show started. It seems the whole BBC effort was being used for Silly Sally in the brightest red dress imaginable announcing how she in a role as King maker and Saint Marcus had changed government policy on their own.
It wasnt a dream and l didnt make it up but l dread to think what the build up to the rags first match will be like.

It was bizarre seeing the words 'Bangkok' and 'football super fan' on the screen together as yhey talked about the restart of gootball in this country. I suspect the Bbc also use that clip for the World Service but how do you become a super fan watching in bars or at home?

And,on the back of that,im sure Sheff utd fans will be licking their lips in anticipation at the enquiry into their disallowed goal at villa park which would have took them above utd in the league/ race for champions league football..
