Ran a cat over and feel terrible

Make sure you take the cat and put it in a bag and phone the emergency vet who will take it for cremation. It's a joke you have to report dogs but not cats. It leaves people feeling guilty. I had my cat for 20 years so would have appreciated somebody making sure he wasn't just left there.

Dunno why I'm posting this really, but yesterday I ran a cat over. It ran out straight under back wheels.

I stopped and stroked its head til owner was found (by 3 good samaritans) but I dont think itt will make it.

Nothing I could do but feel horrendous
Not your fault. At least the cat is on good hands.

Isn’t the code that if a car or a dog run out in front of a car you carry on not swerve out the way? I know instincts usually make you do it.

My next door neighbour ran mine over! It’s the risk cat owners take. It had probably shit all over their garden. Don’t worry about it.

I never let mine out the front as she had no concept of how dangerous cars were. Cats are absolute swines as they do what they want. They don’t like discipline.

Happens mate
I ran one over in Levenshulme a few years ago. I say ran it over. The thing ran out, missed my wheels but bounced off the underside of the car numerous times (I heard it) By the time I stopped, the cat was like a dancer from Run DMC and spinning on its back
It jumped up and ran off, probably to die somewhere after the adrenaline had worn off

When I was courting the wife, must have been '86, I was driving home late, past Crowcroft Park, Longsight when one shot out right in front on me, I too felt it bouncing on the underside of the car..

I was gutted but there was nothing I could do..

Still thinking about the poor cat and about a mile further down the road, I ran another one over, again ran out in front of me, nothing I could do..!

They are the only cats I've run over in 38 years of driving, two, 2 minutes apart..!

It was a catastrophic drive home for sure..!
