Donald Trump

I would be VERY surprised if it happened.

He would have to be promised immunity from prosecution from the Dem's, and if I were them I'd tell him to f*ck off.

I don't think the Dems would want him to drop out. He's killing himself every single day, at this rate, unless there is a monumental turnaround the election is a foregone conclusion by November.

A proper Republican would retain all of Trumps base (still got to own the libs) and bring back a bunch of defectors.

It could only be Pence at this point. And I don't see him having much more of a chance.

Trump would never drop out, he'd have to be forced and his ego wouldn't take it lying down. It would get ugly.

Interesting thread from a Fox “journalist”

The key phrase in that thread is 'if his poll numbers don't rebound''. That would suggest, to me, that people in the GOP are operating with a timeframe for that to happen and an expectation that the numbers close to a specific amount. Said before that I wouldn't be surprised if he (was) bowed out of the race on 'health grounds', and the fear of the Democrats taking complete control is certainly likely to sharpen minds.

They haven't left themselves enough time to get a credible candidate in place who hasn't been 'tainted' by Trump.

It could be Nicky Haley or even Ivanka. But I don't see it happening. There is no guarantee a different candidate polls better, they are all fully bought in. The only exception is Romney but backing Romney is an admission that Trump was corrupt.

Likely not, but were one to emerge, then once in the running it might be possible to apportion blame on Trump. Would be a little similar to Harding v Cox in 1920, when the ailing and unpopular Wilson became the totem for everyone's ills, but that never helped the Democrats and saw the Republicans take the presidency and strengthen their hold in both Houses.

Let's hope this little bit of history does not repeat itself.

Notice how he’s now trying “corrupt Joe” as “sleepy Joe” wasn’t/isn’t working.

Pure projection once again. Similar to calling Obama a traitor last week when he found out NYT had the story about Trump failing to criticise Russia for putting a bounty on US soldiers’ heads.

Top of the agenda of course, just below golf but above cradling Putin's balls

I talked about Trump deciding not to run some time ago — retiring “undefeated” and saying he’d been the best President since Lincoln (which is exactly what he did say) — but if he does it now, he’ll look like he’s abandoned his cult members to save himself . . . Oh, wait a minute, that’s exactly what death cult leaders do. So it wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

But voters are going to take out Trump’s sins on whomever the GOP puts up — it would almost assuredly have to be Pence but he’s been such a candy-ass, chickenshit enabler I don’t know how he could possibly divorce himself from Trump. I think the GOP hierarchy has finally begun to internally confront what they’ve done — they always knew, of course, but it was “worth it” to save their own particular jobs. Senator Graham for instance will pray he makes it through the election by slurping on the collective taints of Trump’s base, watch Trump lose, then disavow him completely, serve his six years, then retire. He’s sorted.

Gasparino, whose tweet started this, is an investigative reporter who broke a number of huge business stories, including the AIG bailout story. He was a juggernaut in 2008 during the crisis (which I remember all too well). The fact that he wrote this is very interesting.

I want to have my own Electoral revenge on this fat orange **** who I have been horrified by and detested for 30 years. I want all of his gutless ass-kissing enablers going down in glorious flames, screaming in terror as they fall. I want them all to suffer. But I also really do love my country. Any way Trump goes is fine by me, and the sooner the better.
