By not learning I mean our Government not appearing to understand that Russia are willing to play the long game when looking out for its own interests. The old Communist ideal of suffering for the greater good of the nation never really went away.

I think they've deliberately ignored what seems to me to be obvious and standard behaviour. Russia don't have the all out economic power to subvert, but they can subvert from behind the scenes.

The govt have taken short term gain over long term solidity.

I think they need to take a look at who the money is going to and what they are getting out of these “donations”

these dinners and sit downs that cost 20/30k each need examining

I agree.

I think it will come out. No party has been cleared of having any Russian influence.

I can't imagine it was an easy choice for the Russians in the 2019 GE.

Either back a party that will deliver Brexit or back a party with an old, anti-NATO commie at the helm who will probably stop Brexit.

The state of British politics.

The problem is inevitably going to be politicised.

What we have is successive Tory Governments effectively looking the other way whilst the Russians played with our politics. Why ? Because it suited them.

In many ways Brexit is the perfect storm with Russia and media tycoons wanting it to happen for differing though similar reasons. None of which involves the best interests of the people of this country.

Everyone should check out The Rise of the Murdoch Dynasty on BBC1 for a taste of how the media tycoons seek to influence world affairs.

Going off piste here. There's also a couple of Australian publications which warn of of what's to come after they exposed he's running that country unelected.
 
Yeah that's pretty much said what everyone already knew, but it's still incredibly damning for the government. The fact that up until a last minute coup of the intelligence committee they were still trying to bury this just further shows what they are all about. Sadly, we pretty much know fuck all will be done about this

It must be infuriating that nobody reads the Guardian, and Twitter continue to get
everything wrong. If only people didn't have minds of their own eh?
